I am a new on-line genealogist, but I have been busy researching census roles and gathering oral histories. I look forward to any contact concerning the Aragon family in New Mexico and Southern Colorado.
My great-great grandparents were Florencio and Andrellita Rael de Aragon. They raised a family of nine children in Anton Chico, NM. Their children were Benigna (My great grandmother, she married Bonifacio Garcia and had five surviving children, Leon, Barbarita, Nicacio, Cecilia and Maragarita.); Hilario (He married Jacoba Sanchez and had six children Erinea, Florencio, Celestino, Olympia, Hilario, Jr., and Miquel.);Roman (He married Juanita ?, had two boys Abel F. and Jose R.);Ricarda (She marries Perfilo Gurule and She dies in Anton Chico on September 22, 1916.); Margarita (She marries Blas Duran from Duran, NM); Isabel (She marries Luis Quintana and settles in El Cerrito, NM.); Dolores (She marries Christian Nelson and dies in Anton Chico April 18, 1904.); Maria (She marries Pedro Sanchez.); and Avelino[Abelino or Abel]. This family spread like seeds in the wind. I am positive that Hilario's son Celestino and possibly Miguel followed work opportunities to Pueblo COO. I am currently seeking familial ties in Tucumcari. Either Avelino Aragon migrates to Tucumcari or is it his nephew, son of Roman, Abel F.? My family is intertwined with Aragon not only on the fraternal side, but the maternal. My grandmother, Rosalia Sanchez married the aforementioned Nicacio Garcia. Hilario, Sr. married Rosalia's sister, Jacoba. Another sister Carlota, married a Feliciano Aragon, son of Julian and Maria de la Luz Aragon. I am unaware at this writing of the relationship of Julian to the elder Florencio. I do have a family document, a deed of land to Bonifacio Garcia, notarized by Florencio Aragon, Justice of Peace and affirmed by Commission President, Julian Aragon.
Again, I invite any help or direction from the on-line Aragon community. I am in possession of photographs that I believe are relavent, but unidentified.
