ZANESVILLE: William Arbaugh Sr., 92, of Zanesville, Ohio passed away Thursday July 12, 2012 at Cedar Hill Care Center, Zanesville, Ohio with his family by his side.
He

He was born on May 5th, 1920 in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of the late Norris Stahl and Anna M. "Turnbull" Arbaugh.

He married Betty "Pugh" Arbaugh, June 26, 1947 and just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
They lived and raised their family in Newton Township, South Zanesville, Ohio for many years above the Maysville Pike.

Survived by two sons Thomas and Betty Arbaugh of Shertz, Texas, William Jr. and Valerie Arbaugh of Zanesville, Ohio, one daughter Kaye and Fred Snyder of Zanesville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jeff and Cathy Arbaugh, Leslie and Michael Vasquez all of Texas, Troy Arbaugh of Columbus, Ohio, Trisha and Jobie Morrow of Black Lick, Ohio, Eric Perry of Roseville, Ohio, Brent and Stephanie Perry of Roseville, Ohio.
He also is survived by four great-grandchildren, also a sister Nancy Simmons of New Smyrma Beach Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Robert "Bob" Arbaugh, Ronald "Joe" Arbaugh and one daughter Janet Lynn "Sissy" Arbaugh.

He attended Grover Cleveland Jr. High School and in his early years was a Zanesville bus driver.
He retired from Rockwell International after 30 years of service.
After retirement he worked part time for McHugh and Balderson auto dealers driving cars till the age of 80.

He was a avid train lover as his dad was a motorman on the Interurban railroad. He had traveled to different states across the country just to ride the many trains in the U.S and Canada.

After retirement Bill and Betty loved to travel, over the years they traveled cross country from coast to coast and Canada.

He loved Big Band music and was known to make copies of it for many of his friends and family to enjoy also.

In the 1960's he was assistant fire chief for the Newton Volunteer Fire Dept.
He has been a member of Eagles 302 for several years.

There will be no calling hours observed.
A direct cremation with a graveside service will take place at a later date with Herb Perry officiating.

DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, Zanesville, Ohio are in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio or the Muskingum County Animal Shelter in William Arbaugh Sr. name.
