Have been searching for information on Sophrone-Sophia Arbaugh because of a Peter Sharp connection. These are actually two different women-half sisters-but a lot of researchers have thought they were the same person.

Sophia Arbaugh, daughter of Mary "Polly" Connor and Joseph Arbaugh, was born around 1827-1828. She may have been the cause of her mother's death. Joseph and Mary married in Gallia County, Ohio, on Jan 11, 1819. In the 1830 census Joseph appears with his second wife Susannah Nelson and his six children by his first wife: sons-John, Leonard and Joseph. Daughters-2 unknown first name, and Sophia.

Sophrone/Sophrona/Sophrana Arbaugh was the daughter of Joseph Arbaugh and Susannah Nelson. They married on April 6, 1829 in Meigs County, Ohio. Sophrona was born in 1833 and appears in the 1850 Census in Vinton County, Ohio, with the family as age 17. She married James McCann on March 25, 1852 in Vinton County, Ohio (LDS website-Sophrana Arebaugh). They appear in the 1860 census in Harrison, Pickaway, Ohio with daughter Hannah and son Joel F (died before 1870 census). They are listed just after her half brother John Arbaugh (wife Nancy) and his son Leonard (and wife). Sophrana died April 4, 1869 in Pickaway County, Ohio. Her son Joel died before 1870 and her husband is listed in the census with Hannah (14) and a son James F (4). I don't know of any other surviving children-only three listed in census records. Hannah married a Ward and James McCann was living with her just before he died in 1912. (1910 Federal and Ohio State census records.)
