I have some information to share.
The emigrant Arbogast or (Arbobast) Families in America came from the south-western part of Germany, near Switzerland. They were likely French Huguenots.
Michael Arbogast took the oath of allegiance to the English Goverment in going aboard the ship "Speedwell", Sept. 25, 1749, at Rotterdam, Holland, bound for Pennsylvania in America. He settled in Crabbottom, Highland Co., VA, later moving to Pendleton Co., (now West VA) in 1752.
He was naturalized in Augusta Co., VA. Aug. 22, 1770. He served in the Revolutionary War, in the 2nd Battalion, Augusta Co., Militia Cavalry Troop under Capt. Peter Hull of Pendleton Co. or Highland Co., VA. in the Yorktown Campaign. He and all of his sons old enough fought on the American side. He also fought in the War of 1812.
The "History of Highland Co., states that in 1800, he owned 1037 acres of land.
