Please contact me @ 3mj.sark@gmail.com I remember Morris as a child. My mother was related to him. I have photos and videos of him, and his wife Aurora. Morris lived on Hankock Street in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. I used to go there all the time as a kid. I have a video of his wedding to Aurora. I think she is still alive & living there on the island. On facebook you can find me under my name--Michael Vexler. I have a picture of Morris' son in New York City (Ridgewood, Queens). I don't know if this "son" is your father, but from what I understand--Morris didn't raise/see his son for many years. His son was raised in Panama. He came to NYC in the 1970's to see his father (Morris). My father told me the entire story, and I have pictures.
Michael

Hello. My name is Michael Vexler. I was born in NYC in 1970. I was born & raised there. My mother is from Colombia, and her father, and grandmother were from San Andreas. They came to NYC in the 1960's. My grandfather brough his entire family over to NYC back then. Some of these relatives still live in NYC--others moved to other states over the years. I might be a part of that NY connection that you lost contact with. I can fill you in with a lot of details. Please contact me at 3mj.sark@gmail.com On facebook you can find me under Michael Vexler. I also do have a few pictures that I can provide of family members from San Andreas.
Michael

Hello Cheryl, My name is Michael Vexler, and I was born in NYC in 1970. My mother comes from Colombia, and her father (my grandfather) comes from San Andreas. I am not sure, but I think it was his mother (my great grandmother) who had the last name Archbold. All I know is that the family name was Archbold. I do know that my great grandmother, and grandfather spoke English. They learned Spanish when they moved out of the island to live in mainland Colombia. They moved to the US in the 1960's. From what I understand--I still have relatives there. I also understand that my grandfather has left land to some of his children--in his will. I think one or 2 of my aunts own the land there, but they live in the US. If you have any information that you could share with me--please do so, and I will also share with you what I know. I do know that before my granfather died a few years ago--they wanted to have a ceremony there to honor him. I don't know exactly why they wanted to honor him, but he was to old and frail to attend. His name was Herbert Plinio Ayure. His mother's name was Emilia. I have to double-check, but I am 99% sure that her maiden name was Archbold. I do know that the main family name was Archbold, and that they were descended from Britain--probably (but not totally sure) from Scotland.
Michael

Thmas Archbold Tombstone Dedication Ceremony

A new tombstone has been placed for Thomas Archbold, who is buried at Reynolds Cemetery, Decatur, IN and a dedication ceremony is planned--see the press release below. The ceremony is taking place on August 20, 2011, Saturday, at 10:00 am.

Reynolds Cemetery is on Winchester Rd, just north of Decatur, Adams Co, IN. From US 27 go north onto Winchester Rd at the traffic light. If going south on US 27, then turn right; if going north then turn left. It is about 1.6 miles north.
Press Release--
Come and join us for a tombstone dedication for Thomas Archbold, a soldier of the American Revolutionary War who valiantly served our country in 1775 in Pennsylvania. We would like to invite all interested community members and especially the descendants. This is being celebrated as part of the “Decatur 175 Celebration”, commemorating Decatur’s 175th anniversary of their founding in 1836.

A new tombstone has been secured and the grave site has been enhanced with a wrought-iron fence and decorative stone. The dedication will be held at Reynolds Cemetery on Winchester Road, just north of Decatur at 10:00 a.m. on August 20, 2011. Participating will be the Mayor of Decatur, who will give a proclamation, the Color Guard of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion Post 43 from Decatur, along with descendants of Thomas.

Thomas left Pennsylvania where he was born and relocated in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Shortly after his wife’s death, he moved to Adams County, Indiana, around 1835 and lived with his son until his death in 1837.

The Archbolds are linked through marriage to the Andrews and Johnson families along with many others in our area.

The community has gotten involved with this project through donations of time, service and items necessary to complete the project. We are very thankful for all the help in honoring our patriot.

You may visit the official anniversary website at http://decatur175.com/default.aspx

Many people have wrongly thought that Ann was Ann Steel who married William Archbold, possibly because Ann Steel is traceable and Ann Unknown is still a mystery. A relative of mine who is an Archbold has spent MANY years researching the family and there is no doubt that Ann Unknown is the correct one. In the book History of Northumberland, I think page 373, there is listed there the pedigree of the Archbolds of Alnwick. If you haven't seen this already it might be of interest to you. You did not say whether the information I gave you lead you to confirm your links with George Archbold? Regards, David

I don't think I can help you with your William or George query. However, William, b 1824 married his second wife, Ann (NOT Steel) and they had several children, Ralph who married Maragaret Windlaw and William who married Margaret Gibb. Perhaps your George is a sibling. William b. 1824, his first wife was Jane Duncan who was born in 1725 and their only child was John Archbold and he married Rachel Gilchrist in 1772. Perhaps from this information, you may able to confirm what you are looking for but certainly MY Arcbhold's are very much Northumberland based.Cornhill is in Northumberland but in years past the Berwickshire area was known to be in North Durham which is now Northumberland! Good Luck, David

Hi,
I am looking to confirm William Archbold(1776) of NORHAM,(see birth of daughter Elizabeth below) was the son of George Archbold(1753 Belford) and Mary Barber, whose children were: William 1776, John 1778, Ann 1780,George 1782, Mary 1784, Margaret 1787, Dorothy 1789 and Thomas 1794.

I am a little confused which were the children of William Archbold and Ann Steel verses William Archbold and Ann, and believe George Archbold(1753) was the son of one of them, any help to link them to right family much appreciated.

1807 Jan 8 Elizabeth (born Jan 8, 1804) ist d. of Willm Archbold, N. of the P. of Norham, farmer, by his wife Elizabeth, 2nd d. of Robert Fish, N. of the P. of Ford, shoemaker.

A copy of the marriage bond for Elizabeth Archbold and William's Grey's marriage, mentions her mother Elizabeth but the bond of £200 was paid by William Grey and George Archbold of New Heaton, in the parish of Cornhill in the county of Durham, farmer.(most likely her Brother or Grandfather).

Hello Again, Unless we are talking about a different William & Ann, the details that I have and am convinced are correct are as follows:
Wiliam married his first wife Jane Duncan on 5th May 1744, their child being John, b. 1745 and he married Rachel Gilchrist. Jane Duncan died in the next couple of years and William married Ann. We know it is not Ann Steel, only known by the name Ann. They had four children Ralph b.1748, William b.1751, Margaret b. 1754, Thomas b. 1755. There is no documentation at all to substantiate that this William is the same person but family members and a professional researcher are convinced that it is the same person. From this William b. 1724, you will see from The History of Northumberland the Archbold pedigree going back to 1618. I believe the page No. 373. All the details that I have regarding the Archbolds are totally correct and have been researched over many years. If there is a specific line of descent from William b.1724, then let me know, just in case I may have it. Regards, David

Hi David.

The data I have is a marriage of William Archbold to Ann Steel on 25 May 1742 at Chatton, Northumberland. I need a confirmation of this from the parish records to be certain that the marriage is correct. Can you please give any details of the source which your researcher obtained his data from. Also I have downloaded The History of Northumberland Vol 7, can you give me a page number or section which contains the information re William and Ann.

Regards.

Richard

Hi Richard

Thank you for your reply. It is my information now that John Archbold b. 1745 parents were William Archbold & Jane Duncan. I believe Jane Duncan died shortly after John's birth. I then believe William married again, to Ann (not Ann Steel as is commonly thought). He was baptised 5 Apr 1724. William and Ann then had children, Ralph, William, Margaret and Thomas. The information comes from a professional researcher and is documented in The History of Northumberland, Vol 7. It would seem that Ann Steel is "the fly in the ointment". I look forward to hearing from you again. Regards, David

Our family were Methodist preachers dating back 7 generations. I know of an Archbold family who lived in East Kew, Victoria back in about 1960 but they were Catholic. I think we are probably related but there was a split at sometime in the past. I do not have any evidence. Kind regards, Elaine Race nee Archbold

Hi, yes, you are right. The slaves took their masters name and that's what they carry now, besides, the masters would have children with the slaves and so there are many out there also; and as the years go by, there are more and more mixtures. I have an uncle that marry a black lady from San Andres, but they did not have any children; they adopted a black kid that now carries his name. None the less, we loved that lady dearly, the skin color made no difference to us.

My grampa Effie marry a woman with a white Jewish man and a mix mother, so we have some of the black in us also. And so goes the lineage.

My name is Yvonne Archbold Eubanks, on FB I am Yvonne Eubanks. I would love to see a picture of you.

Hello,

I think there's a time disconnect here. My father, Fernando Archibold was born in 1907 so my grandfather Marshall was born in the 1800's.
My dad died when I was young, so I don't know where he lived or what he did for a living. From what my mom tells me, it seems he was raised in Providence or San Andres by his aunts.
Hope this helps. All the aunts and uncles I know from my dad's line have passed but I believe he was part of a larger family that I don't know.

Jorge

Nice to know. Thanks for the info and glad to know that we are relatives. So, Your Granpa is brother of my great grandpa Licinias. Yes, many of the brothers of my grandpa married with black people. I know cousins of my dad that are a mix of both colors. There is still another black Archbold Lineage that is the one that they were slaves of the original Archbold and stole it from their owners. It's not of being racist but I'm happy and proud to have Britain Ancestry because I like too much that country. The language, the cities, the football teams, the rugby, the music, and even the Queen. Thanks for the great info and hope to keep in touch. What's your name? to look for you in facebook. It would be a nice thing to make a group of the San Andres and Providence Archbold's but just the original scotish lineage. The one that we both come from. Again Thanks and God Bless you.

Hi Jeffrey:

Well, look no further. I asked my oldest cousin who worked a lot alongside my Dad and his Dad, if he knew Licenias or Fred Archbold. And here is his reply:

Licenias is Grandpa Effie's brother who settled in San Andres.
Fred is one of his sons.
Fred spent most of his adult life in Cartagena working for an oil company.

So here you go, we are distant cousins. And while there are now black Archbolds, the original family are white, coming from a Scotish lineage. Several have married or had children with blacks, and thus the change in the features.

So Jeffrey, welcome to my line of the Archbold family.

No, my Grandpa is from San Andres, from the South West part know as San Luis. The Family had large lands in the zone including the Rocky Cay Beach where I guess there are still their old wood houses raised. My dad was born in the island but didn't grow up there. He lived many years in San Andres but when he was older. Talking about Providence I know that many people say that the Archbold comes from Providence but I'm quite confused because I think my family is not directly related whit the Providence Archbold's, the great part of my relatives still living there, got white/caucasian features. I guess the other line of the Archbold and I guess the bigger is the one with black/african ancestry. I don't know the relation with Colon, Panama or Providence Archbold's to my knowns. Because I'm very young, my dad and my uncle are dead, my Aunt lives in Australia and I have many years of not going to the island. I'm curious to know about someone that knew about my grandfather Fred or even my great grandfather Licinias too.

Hi Jorge:

I believe we are probably getting somewhere here. A Marshall Archbold was one of my grandfather's brothers. I knew him but did not know my grandfather who died at the age of 50, I understand.

And yes, the date of your grandfather Marshall birth sounds right with my grand Uncle Marshall. What I'm not sure is if he had children other than the ones that I know which are Enrique and Paulina. But their mother was a much younger woman than he was, and they are just a bit younger than myself.

I am going to ask my older sister if he had older children before marrying Selma, the mother of the ones I know.

And yes, he was a captain, but by the time I remember him, he was already retired and lived in Providence. Most of them worked around Panama and so had children in Panama. My own youngest sister was born in Panama also; and some of my cousins.

And by the way, I have three sisters in California; one in Glendale and two in Altadena right now.

There is an Islander that grew up and went to school with us in Providence, living there in San Diego. Her name is Sonia Britton, but I don't know her address. If you might want to make contact I can get it.
My mom tells me that my grandfather, Marshall Archibold was also a sea captain in the late 1800's and early 1900's.
My dad, Fernando Archibold was born in 1907. He passed away in 1971 when I was 10 years old so I am looking for connections to my past.
I was born in Panama but currently live in San Diego, CA and dont have access to many people in Panama and I've never been to San Andres or Providence

Jorge.

I have heard the name Laicinias Archbold, and I believe Fred also; but really did not know either of them. I am one of the younger children, and left the Island when I was barely 12 years old. Back then no one talked about family tree; by the time I realized it would be a good idea to know about our family background, there was no one to ask.

If you have been around the Islands or Panama you probably have at least heard the name of my father and uncle: Ulric and Orvil Archbold. They were both sea captains; both worked on large oceanliners traveling worldwide, then later became captains of their own boats.

My uncle's boats did the run between Colon and Bocas and Almirante in Panama; my Dad's boat did the run between Colon and San Andres and Providence.

The family is the, same my dad and my grandfather put "i" to make the Archibold but the are just a few people in the family that put the "i" but as I said we're the same family. All of the cousins that I know don't use the "i" in between in fact my uncle and my cousins didn't put the "i".

Discussing about that don't you know if your dad or grandfather have any relationship with Licinias Archbold or Fred Archbold? Hope your answer.

Hi

I am looking to contact any Archbolds that have or might have Irish backgrounds. In Particular anyone that can associate with a John Archbold born 1890 in Ireland and went to the Uk in about 1928. Or if anyone has any information on him or ever came across the name.
