John Ardis

I live in Southern California. My grandmother on my Father's side was Alzina Ardis Stoner. Her father was Isaac L. Ardis (1853 - 3/16/1905). Isaac L. ARdis was the son of Rev. John Columbus Ardis and Frances Amanda Harris. Both John and Frances received a college education from Emory and La Grange Female College, respectively. John C. Ardis brought the family to Downey, California in 1868. The family left the South and traveled by covered wagon for nine months to reach the West Coast. Upon arrival John Ardis began the first church (the Southern Methodist Church) and first school of Downey (an Academy). We have no record of the original immigration of the Ardis Family, but it is known that they are Irish descendants of Lord Ardis fo North Belfast, Ireland.

At Emory College, I was able to find a card on John C. Ardis and Isaac L. Ardis.

There seems to be some relationship, but some of your info does not seem to align. Any info you may have would be appreciated.....Kathy
