The research I have done thus far has been with the free sections of Ancestry, roots web and other sights. Because I am now running into road blocks in my search, I will likely be purchasing the Worldwide ancestry access. My email Address is rick@eagleguys.com I'll try to verify birthplaces further and pass on the information asap.

Does Jane's Father William help you at all?

yes they are. Can you let me know if you have some proof that "our Thomas" was from Great Ayton and that "our Jane" was from Tyrone Ireland? We realize that the birth dates for this Thomas & Jane match the years we are looking for but are still looking for some definitive documentation. My email address is jananderson@rogers.com. What is yours? We only have access to ancestry.com for another 2 days.

That is the correct death dates for Thomas and Jane and the correct places. The problem we are having is that we found a Thomas Lightfoot born in Great Ayton but have no documentation to prove that he was from there nor do we have any documents that state his birth date. We were thinking that was him but couldnt definately prove it. We found the same with Jane. What lead to this Thomas and Jane? My niece and I are working on this together, \i will find out where the book came from as well we can send you a picture of Thomas and Jane's grave.

Alexander Ardrey Slaves

Hello,

My name is Tyshawn Ardrey and I'm researching the Ardrey family. I was always told growing up that we are part irish and black and saw it with my freckles on my hands. My rare reddish/brown skin which gives a indication that I'm mixed but everyone in my family looks like that. We are Black but we are strangely black. For example my brothers red hair and beard and my daughters rare red hairs that I find in her hair. My grandparents was black but very fair skinned. My grandmother told me she used to pass for white when necessary. Researching Ardrey, I run into a scottish/northern ireland type name.

Starting my family tree and why our family is the only Blacks with Ardrey it led me to Alexander Ardrey who received a slave girl name Meriah I believe. From that part in history to my family that I researched, I found out a few older folks in my family was labeled mulatto instead of negro. In the 1890 census they was written as Negro and then erased to Mulatto. Researching slave history is hard but I'm thinking Alexander Ardrey is a relative of mine.

Most of my family history are in the carolina's as well. I was wondering can anybody provide any assistance to this. I'm thinking this might be a Thomas Jefferson case.

This is a long shot, but my wife's family carries an interited disease called beta thalassemia, or the "Mediterranean Blood Disease." It's not a big problem unless two people with it marry. Their children can have serious problems.

The most logical suspect in my wife's line is Mary Elizabeth Ardery, b. 1857, location unk., lived most of her life in Curwensville, PA, and died there in 1925. Her ancestors were Elisha, 1811-1881, James, 1764-1814, and James Sr. 1735-1793.

Has anyone out there heard of any Arderys aflicted with this disease? Thanks.

Richard, I have been researching Robert Ardrey B: 1816 in Pa. There seems to be two Robert Ardreys that are being mixed up. The one I am looking for was fathered by Alexander Ardrey, who was married to Sussanna Gaddis. My Robert was married first to Martha Meranda and then to Margaret Ann Hurley. He was My G.G.Grandfather. I have a notebook of notes from a cousin who is now deceased, but they are a bit mixed up. If you would like a copy , E-Mail me your address and I'll send you one.
I am also researching the Ardery line from Tyrone, Ireland. I'm just starting to piece it all together, and my source for Robert, born 1777, isn't solid (LDS IGI records and Kindred Konnections website) but I've got info from both sources saying Robert married a Margaret Gipson, born about 1778. Robert died in 1863 in Uniontown, Stark County, Ohio. Children William (b. Ohio 1809), James, John Sallie, Rebecca, Margaret, Mary, Jane and Robert.
I also believe Robert had a brother William, and it's William that I'm interested in. I have some information on William if you'd like to e-mail me.

Hello Guy,
I wanted to say thank you for getting back to me so quickly and I apologize for taking a bit to reply. It is helpful and now I've got some research to do to see who they fit into the tree.

The only way to advance to share information such as this, if it doesn't fit, at least it was an avenue search so nothing lost. If at any time I can be of help to you, contact me again and we'll help one another.

Take Care,
Tina

Yes, I sure would be willing to compare notes with you.

Through some help of angels online and a book I've found published on these particular Ardrey...Ardery's I have found at least some of my family.

They hold a family reunion every year on the second Saturday
in July. It's such a beautiful place!

My grandfather was Cecil Duane Ardrey, Sr.

Could you send me a little of that info and I'll see if it somehow fits into my family tree?

Thank you so very much for answering.

Hello, Nina:

I am descended from James Ardery. I am having some difficulty finding source information on my 4th great-grandfather, Robert, son George, or any of Robert and Mary Cooper-Ardery's children.

I am not familiar with the family reunion that is held in Worth Township.

Would you be willing to compare notes?
