Re: Arellanos of Guerrero

Here’s some background from my end. My name is Daniel Silvar Arellano. I live in CA, USA.

My grandfather was Maximino Arellano. He was a medium height, light skin, blue eyes. It’s hard for me to say exactly where my grandfather was born because I only knew him until I was three years old but he was definitely born in this region of Guerrero. I can also tell you that from my grandfather’s side of the family, we have branched family of last name Cuevas of Cerro Alto. My grandmother’s name was Andrea Ariza also from this region. Both of my grandparent’s parents died when they were little. In their married years they lived in Buenavista and later moved to Cuernavaca Morelos. The Arellano’s from my grandfather’s side now reside in California, Chicago and Cuernavaca. I know my grandfather had brothers and sisters but that’s another story I only know partially and I’m sure there more family scattered whom I still don’t know of or have met. Perhaps you are of them. From what I can tell, there’s not many Arellano’s in Guerrero.

From my father’s side of the family, I know a bit more and in summary can associate with following last names…..Silvar, Bahena, Rodriguez, Uriostegui and other remote places of the region like Tierra Blanca, Coyunquial and La Cañita.

Feel free to email me….danielsilvar@hotmail.com

Yes!...My grandfather was Miguel Arellano (b. 1901) He was an electrician here in El Paso since the late 1920's (back when it was still a new high technology)...I think he was the first Mexican-American in El Paso to earn his formal electrician's liscence...also the names Herminia and Samuel match up to the stories that my father would tell me...they were his aunt and uncle , i think we have some photos of them!...Mary, thank you!..have you found any other old photos of other family members?

In her funeral register (1947) there is listed Miguel Arellano, Samuel Arellano, Herminia Arellano etc.
Also in the 1930 Census Miguel Arellano is listed with his siblings and his Mother Merced, Uncle Tomas Esquivel. Also listed was that he was an electrician. Any relation??

All the reference material I've come across does not show any, even though he was married to Graciana Romero de Pedraza.

I know many believe him to be the patron of the large Arellano clan of New Mexico, but have the dots been connected?
