My ex would be your brother. If you have any more info I would appreciate your sharing the family history. I would be happy to share the little info that I remember about the immediate family I was married into. My children know very little of thier Arena family history. My oldest is also named Joseph after his grandfather. There is also Daniel and Jacilyn. I would like my children to know about thier heritage and family background. In November there will be a brand new little Arena out here in California.

I am actually not related to this line, but did the posting for my neighbor and friend, Liz Lewis. She is the granddaughter of Vincent Arena (brother of Gaetano) and the great-granddaughter of Salvatore Arena and Teresa Rivoglioso, natives of Trabia. Liz has actually contacted some Arena and DiVittorio cousins still living in Trabia, which is exciting. Please e-mail me at Allysonmt@aol.com so that I can connect you and Liz together. She will be so pleased!

The Arena and Campagna names are familiar to the the town of Trabia in the Provence of Palermo. Possibly the San Nicola l'Arena area. My cousins family name is Arena and from Trabia. The Arena family changed their name to Arena in Canada before they came to the US. The grandfather was also a Salvatore Arena married to Girolama Rubino. They were related to the Arena's in San Francisco. My Salvatore's mother was related to the Butera's.
My family always spoke of the Campagna's and I went to school with the Bonaccorso kids in Morgan Hill, Ca, just south of San Jose. All my ancestors are from Trabia, that I know of, dating back to the 1840's.

His wife Carmella (Carmela) Cirone died in a house fire in the same time period and the same location. They left 2 children one of which was my grandfather Levi Cirone.

Here's what I believe to be facts from a family that preferred to remain fuzzy w/ details....
My grandfather was named Bartolo Arena. He emigrated from a town called Caropepe (or something like that) Apparently, the town is now known as Valguenera (or something like that) with his father Pietro in the early part of the 1900's ( maybe 1905 ish). Pietro was married to a woman named Ida. Bartolo married Lucia Di Noto ( or Di Note... My dad couldn't remember his mom's maiden name for sure) Lucia's parents would have been Carlo and Maria (also Sicilian but not sure what town... my grandparents met in America) Bartolo and Lucia had 7 children: American names: Pete, Charlie, Ida, Mary, Sandy, Vincent (Jim) and Joe... My grandfather and the "boys" worked "pick and shovel" per my father. settled in Rochester in the area of the Public Market

Seeking information on Salvatore Arena b. about 1869 in Caccamo Sicily d. Aug. 8, 1896 in Hahnville, St. Charles Parish, Louisiana. He left behind a wife and one son aged 4 years old. I am trying to determine if this person was a relative of Giuseppe Venturella or his family who also died the same time. I do not know Salvatore Arena's wife's name, nor do I know if the son continued to live and marry and have a family. These men were lynched by a mob of approx. 50 men in the town and parish stated along with another man Lorenzo Saladino. Papers I have state that in 1896 Salvatore was the son of the "late" Pietro Arena.
Any information appreciated.

His mother died in fire when he was 6 mos. old, and all the children went to orphanages, except my father Daniel, and his brother Michael Arena, who were the youngest, they went to stay with Cousin Mary Orcino.

I know it's a 3-year gap between your posting and this note, but:
I believe we may have ancestors in common. My great-great-great-great grandfather Muzio Clementi had 6 children, one of whom was named John (his youngest I believe) and was by his third and final wife, Emma Gisborne. The family lived in London in the late 1700s and 1800s. Also one of Muzio's granddaughters married and had a son, Arthur Clementi Lacey-Baker, my great-grandfather. I think his brother's name, too, was John, and he lived in or around London. Do you have any names of your John Clementi's father/mother? It may help me trace some of the breaks in my "tree".
Also, your note says 1889-1852; do you mean 1952?

I am related to some Arena's through marriage. My G-Grandmother had a Cousin Named Guistina Muro who married a man named George Arena who was born in Calabria, Italy on August 1st 1887 they had 5 children and were married in New Haven, Ct. July 15th 1915. So they are far removed from speaking with them. Their family have all passed away and their grandchildren don't remember him or his family. I don't know where you live in the US. If you have any names of any relatives I know there are many Arena's that live in Norwalk, Ct. So contact me through E-mail and I will do my best to get you info on them. My family is from a small town named San Valentino, torio, Italy. The names were Migliaro, Mura or Muro in the US.

Take Care
John Migliaro
