Bonnie/ I did some research on the Arntz family years ago. Jacob Arentz/Arntz married Margaret Schmitt in Goshenhoppen Pa. 1770.Together they had 9 children while living in Berks Co. during the Revolution.His son John Arntz married Elizabeth Dumm( she must also be a related to you) April 1796 Goshenhoppen. They eventually moved to Ohio.My husband family are descendants.I have some info regarding the Dumm family would be willing to share. Any info on the Arntz's origins?

I'm not related but FYI, there's a family bible on sale right now on eBay that belonged to Sylvester J. Arenz and Florence M. Veit.

He was born Stockbridge 1913, she was born Chilton 1917. They were married in 1941 at St. Mary's in Chilton.

I hope the bible finds it's way back to someone in their family. There are lots of entries in it.

I haven't come across Kapernick yet in my searches. I will keep your message with my Lenz/Lentz file and let you know if I come across it in the furture.

Currently, the only Lenz entry I have is Anna Maria Butzen, baptized 27 Dec 1784, daughter of John Butzen and Margaretha Clemens, born in Reil married to Nicholai Lenz.. Anna Maria and Nicholai's known children are Anna Margaretha Lenz, b. Sep 1817 in Reil and Anna Gertrude Lenz bap. 17 Mar 1820 in Reil.

My husbands mother was a Arenz but they were from Wisconsin. Will check and see what I can find out. Believe there is a couple of Arenz brothers that their family lived in Missouri. Do have some data from them but if I remember right they did not know the family that well.

My great grandmother, Augusta Louise Kapernick, b 1844 Ziegenhagen, Prussia, d 1935 Humberstone, Welland, Ontario, CANADA married Daniel Wesley McCain 1863. Augusta is dau of Christian Fredrich Kapernick b 4-29-1810 Voigtsdorf, Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Germany.

This couple named their son: Hugh LENTZ McCain.

Does your Lentz line mention Kapernick?

My grandfather's family name was Schmitt. Joseph Schmitt came to Detroit from Alsac Lorraine area and married Rose Schnell from Switzerland. They eventually moved from Detroit to Ingham County Michigan. I find little on him. Any help would be appreicate. He came over in about 1860 and became a citizen in 1898. Naturalization papers told me nothing more than I already know. I do not know parents name.

I am doing some research on Francis A. Arenz. He was my great great great grandfather. My husband and I are planning a trip to Illinois in July and want to spend some time in Arenzville. We are from Holland and as far as we know, we do not have any family in your country.
But I was very surprised to read that the name of your grandfather is the same as my husband's name.

Jacob James Arentz born in Assume, Germany, 1737 He died 21 Jan 1807 in Berks County, Pa.

He was married to Margaret Schmidt born in Pa 1743.

I have all generation of the Jacob James Arentz Family forward to present date.

Can you tell me how you are reated to Francis Arenz? He is one of my ancestor's too. My father, Don Arenz, his father, Loren Arenz, his father Opal Phifer Arenz, and so on. My father was an only child, his father was, as well. It would be terrific to learn more about other descendants of Francis. Opal passed away in 1964, Loren in 2001. Please give more details so that we might compare lineage.

My grandfather was Thomas Arenz who married Agnes Ehren, they lived in Sheyboygan Falls, Wisc. My mother used to say he was a toggler,( in the leather shop of a big butcher company) and his brother owned a tavern. He died when she was a girl, probably in the 30s. I would like to find his family.

She was born May 8, 1895, in Tonawanda, N.Y., and came to Bradenton in 1996 from Bantam, Conn. She was a secretary and a bookkeeper in her early years. She was a homemaker. She was a member, church organist and choir director at Broad Street Baptist Church in Tonawanda for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Walter N. of Bradenton and Douglas D. of Bantam; two grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be later at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Tonawanda. Ellenton Funeral Home is in charge.

My great grandmother was born an Arenz and one of my great, great....grandfathers founded Arenzeville. I haven't started to delve into that part of my family tree yet but I'm sure I can find some info from you. Reason, I have information on a family (name started out in Germany as Artz, Arens, Arents, Arenz, Arentz) that came to Wisconsin in the 1840's.

I came across this posting and thought I'd try and see if you have any info on Gertrude Joerres. I'm doing research on this name, more specifically Rudolph (Ralph) W. Joerres. He was in the St. Louis, MO area in 1900 but I lost track of him after that. Most of the Joerres/Jorres names I do find are in the Wisconsin area. I read the replies to your post and both these areas are mentioned. Do you have a Rudolph Joerres linked somewhere with Gertrude Joerres? I will share what info I have of the rest of his family if there is a connection. I do not know if he married or had children. I believe he was still alive in 1933 but the family never kept in touch or talked about him. No one even knew he existed! Would like to hear from you. Thanks. Paula

Are any of these names in you line? Elizabeth Arenz b.1874 m. Peter Becker, John Arenz, Mary Arenz, Gertrude Arenz. Peter Becker was my grandfather. My grandmother's sister Gertrude Arenz m. Peter Arenz's brother, Matthew. There was also a Bernard Becker. They were all born in the Essen/Dusseldorf areas. Maybe a small town w/ the word Kichen in it? Thanks for any reply, Carol
