I saw a post from you in 2001 that referred to the "Old Huss Cemetery," and would like to know exactly where it is located. I am researching my father's family - Huss and Turner lineage. My maiden name is Huss and anytime I see anything on cemeteries or old records I am interested in adding to family info.

Thanks for responding.

Anyone have a Picture of Sam Calvin Argo or Viola Shaw Argo?

Does anyone happen to have a picture of Sam Calvin Argo born April 6, 1891 on High Island, TX and died May 6, 1946 in LA. His wife was Viola Alfreda Shaw and their children were Sam Calvin (1926), David Douglas (1927) and Lottie (1937). Or any pictures of Viola Alfreda Shaw Argo either for that matter although I have some of hers and have posted one of those under her name. She had many siblings so I'm sure some of them had pictures of her in their family albums. Really appreciate the time if you could help out.
Thanks.

I am looking for any information (particularly who the parents were) on William "Bill" Argo born in Warren County, TN (there's a slew of them there but I haven't found any that matches his particular information) in April, 1852. According to 1910 census both his mother and father were born in TN as well. He died in Spindletop, Jefferson, Texas on 11-14-1929. His wife was named Addie (may be a nickname or even a middle name) Capps born in Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas in 1861 she was still alive in the 1930 census but no definite death date on her. They had two sons Sam Calvin Argo and Lewis William Argo. Their eldest son was born in Texas in 1891 so they were both here in Texas at least by that date.
Thank you for your time and assistance.

Before he died a few years ago, he traced the Argo family line to the best of his ability. He discovered that a man named Alexander Argo came to the new world from Edinburgh,Scotland in 1720 to what is now Maryland. Does anyone know more? e

My GGG grandparents John ARGO and Catharine MARSH are buried in the Argo Cemetery (row 7)

The Argo Cemetery is located on private property just east of a small stream and south of a small lake, nearby the Sangamon Park and the Champaign/Piatt County line. The property is owned by Leon Ash & Robert Wright and is not eccessible except by permission of the owners.

The Cemetery is also in bad shape, no one cares for it, but I'm working on that.

I also have the reading of the Cemetery, it was last read in 1977.

You can contact me to get the phone number of Leon Ash.

Melynn
melynnd76@mchsi.com

I just joined ancestry.com, but I was interested to find info on the Patchells. Louise Biggins-Patchell is my great-aunt; her twin sister was my mother's mother. This site has become a very interesting resource, as this is how I discovered my great-uncle Norman passed away.

Unfortunately, I really don't have anyway of researching past Howard & Carrie as that's as far back as my mom could remember on the Biggins' side. I just thought I'd reply since we're apparently related. Of course, now that I see you posted this 4 years ago, I can't imagine this would reach you, but here's a shot.

Re: ARGO /BRITT FAMILY FROM TALLAPOOSA CO.,AL

I am looking for information on Henry Dallas Argo who it is believed was from Tallapoosa County, AL and moved to Texas after 1868 with Sarah/Sallie Jane Carter Morgan Argo who he married in Coosa County, AL 27 Aug 1867. Sarah Jane died 30 April 1919 in Austin, TX, as his widow and a resident of the Confederate Women's Home there. She is buried in a Confederate grave in the Texas State Cemetery in Austin.

I am especially interested in finding any children Sarah/Sallie and Henry might have had in Brown County, TX and what happened to Henry after he and his second wife Henrietta moved into Indian Territory before Oklahoma Statehood in 1907.

I am beginning to suspect that Henry had Native American ancestry of some kind or married a Native American woman (Harriet) while living in Comanche County, TX in the late 1800's.

I would love to correspond with anyone with more information about the ARGO/HARJO family of Alabama. Please write me directly at historian@morganvirtualreunion.com

Thank you
Linda Morgan Clark

I am seeking more information on the above referenced couple who were married in 1867 in Coosa County, AL. It is believed that Dallas H. Argo moved to Texas about 1869 with one of his stepsons (Sarah Jane's son, John Thomas Morgan), but I'm not sure if Sarah was with him. Sarah is my gr-gr grandmother.

Please contact me at historian@morganvirtualreunion.com

Thanks,
Linda Morgan Clark

Hello, there!

My father was James Roland Argo, born June 21, 1921, son of George Franklin Argo and Mattie Elizabeth Erwin Argo. George Franklin was the son of Anthony Nimrod Argo and Nancy Elizabeth Ann Griffith Argo. Anthony Nimrod Argo was the son of Jackson G Argo born in GA around 1818 and married to Jane Walker. Children included Anthony Nimrod and possibly Artemicia, Wiley G, Willis M, Lucenda, and Josiah. Jackson died in AL, possibly Calhoun Co. I'm trying to trace back to the father, grandfather, and great grandfather of Jackson G. Argo to find out where we came from.

In 1870 he is in Etowah Co., AL. In 1880, Paulding Co., GA. In 1900 Jackson Co., AL. I know he is related to the family of Nimrod Argo (b. 1784 SC), but I cannot figure out the connection. Any help appreciated. Charles was a Civil War veteran. His (known) children were Lucinda, Levi Marcus, James P., Charles Ann, Angelina, and Peter. Thanks.
