Hello all!

My Grandmother was Maria Ascoli. She was born in Cotrone, Calabria, Italy in 1917, she died in Brazil in 1988.

Her parents were Francisco Ascoli and Concetta Arigo.

Does anyone have any information about them (Francisco and Concetta)?

You're welcome Bill. I need to send off for Grandma June's birth certificate! Maybe it will have more information about her father (Sam Arigo).

My grandmother (Mary Arigo) brothers were JIMMY AND LEON. Just thought you might want the correct spelling. Leon died at age 16 and Jimmy passed away earlier this year 2006 I believe. He lived in California and was a 1/2 brother to my grandmother. Leon was a full brother and we think he was born in Tulsa, OK but no records have been found. Would like to find his birth certificate to get more information on Sam Arigo (father).

Edith is my great grandmother. She and Sam Arigo had my grandmother Mary June Arigo in Harlan, KY in 1925. He died when my grandmother was 13 months old in an coal mining accident in Henryetta,OK. He was from Italy. He was also a cook in WWI and I found out he was in the hospital in Carthage,MO from his health records. No other military records found nor naturalization records, passenger ship records, census records. I would love any information on him!

I posted a memo about my grandmother back, I think March 2001, well i haven't found out much after all t his thime. But my cousin just gave me info.
My Grandmother was adopted by Anna & Santo Arrigo
from Termini Imersi before that she was raised in a convent till around the age of 10/11. She was adopted and not to long after that came to America.
she was born march 1887 she married 1901
her Adopted Father died not to long after they came to America... her mother made a promise to marry her (she was worried that if she passed away she would be here alone.) Not that this gives me much more to go on, If someone has some info, thanks I would appreciate it.

My name is Nancy Arigo. I have been trying to find my family history. My grandfathers name was John Arigo. He was from sicily. I cannot find anything about his family. He was married to a Mary Griffo. They had four children. Anthony, Mary, Nancy and Lucien (my father) Arigo. They lived in New York. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Question for you on ARRIGO. Are you sure it is spelled that way? The reason being, that my Grandmother's Maiden name is Arigo and her father had several sisters. But, I am not sure if they came to America? Tell me what you know about the family and maybe I have answers for you! The Arigos are from Sicily, near Messina.

You probably don't remember me but I remember you. we are first cousins your father is my mothers (Mary) brother . You might remeber my sister Barbara more than me her children Dennis and Brett used to visit you in south carolina when you were young.

Hi. I'm not sure what I can tell you. I have told all that I know. I have hit a brick wall and can not go any further. I know that Griffo was on the top of my grandmothers headstone with a list of names that I cannot read that well. They lived in New York, and she married my grandfather John Arigo. Let me know if you find out any more. . .

I was needing some information on family. My great-grandmother's maidin name is Ida Griffo. She came over on a boat when she was 3yrs. old. They were from Sicily She married Joesph Zaso. He is from Palarmo.

His mother is Mary Arigo and she marriage him in Italy, in 1884 his name is Sam Arrigo he died in Italy in 1891. She remarriage a man name Sam Palmisano they had two children one was Martha and a son name Phillip Palmisano.When they came to the U.S.A.the ARRIGO is the Italian name but my grandfather put one (R).My grandfather had a uncle that came over to and his name is Tony Arigo but he had brother let me look on that Familys.Nancy I'am Italian Genealogical Research in Immigration and Naturalization records and in Passager Shiplists records. It was nice to hear from you if your grandfather was born in Italy ask your father if his DAD was born in TERMINI PROVINCE OF PALMERO,ITALY.And ask your father if his DAD had his NATURALIZATION RECORD,go back to the CENSUS records to see if there is a date that will tell you what year he came into the U.S. Writer to the Funeral Home some time it will gave name of the parents and see if their is Obituary on them. See if they was a member of a Church see if they will sent you their marriage records and see if the Cemetery will sent you records too.Please don't hesitate to write me back or ask me for some more help O.K. Karen: My Grandfather is August Arrigo when he get NATURALIZE PAPER he did spell it ARIGO he drop the one R. I teacher Immigrater and Naturalize in ship records and passlist so please look at your Census records some of them keep the two RR in their name. Thank You The Little Italian Lady.
