My father was Clarence Molandes, sr, son of Joseph Molandes and Dora Molandes, brother to T Joe Molanders. Other siblings include Tim, Roy, Emma, Jorena, Dorothy.

My dad always told me that when Uncle T Joe went into the service, they added the "R" then and since it was forever on his paperwork, he kept using it.

Lis, I am also researching the Arriola/Simes connection. Eduardo (Edward) Arriola did marry Candelaria Simes, sister of Mary Ann Simes who was the second wife of my gr. gr. grandfather Jeremiah Bryan Callender. There are several sources around. Uncle Billy Stone moved with his family to Bedias, Grimes County, TX. Mary Arriola was his third wife. He lived in an area about 5 mi out of town known as the Stone Community. Many of his dependents still live in this area. Several of Eduardo & Candeliaria sons (Gray, Eli & John) are buried in the historic Old Bethel Cemetery in northern Grimes County as are the parents of Candelaria and many of the Simes family. One source has Eduardo dying in California. You might want to check out the book Nacogdoches County Families, a history of Nacogdoches County TX. page 137. A Patsy Ariola Morgan, descendent of Eduardo, writes a short history of Eduardo and Candelaria, also Eduardo's parents Jose Antonio Arriola and Juanan Maria Palacios and his brother Jose Ascencio Arriola on page 138. I will be glad to provide everything I have on this family if you are interested.

I was told that through the years the name Molandes has been changed to Molanders. I once did some research on it and I believe that alot of the ancestors came from Venezuela. I am not for sure. On the Molandes--in the YBarbo genealogy I found a Clarence Molandes m.
Norma Mora --children:
Carla Sue MOlandes
Clarence Molandes b. 11 Nov 1962
Mary Jo Molandes b. 30 Oct 1969
Does this match any information that you may have. Did not find among the Arriola families but did find a Sarah Janie Campbell Miller m. Tyne "Cajetano" Procell
Sarah is the daughter of : Phillip Miller
and Elizabeth Campbell Miller.
My daughter and I are doing extensive research on the Ariola line that migrated from Louisianna to Texas in the early 1800's. Some of the names we are looking for are as follows: Edward Ariola (b. abt 1785) and his wife Candalia Simes (b. abt 1793) and their children, especially Mary Ariola (b. abt 1829 in either LA or TX) who is my gg grandmother. Mary was married to William Martin Stone (b.27 April 1829 in Mississippi). Both Mary and William died in Bedias, Grimes County, Texas. Any information is appreciated.

I have a Frank Molandes that married Matilda Arriola. They had a daughter Lena, born in 1900 that married Victor Arriola in 1918, in Nacogdoches, Texas.

I understand there are still Molanders/Molandes' in Nacogdoches. Are you from that area? If not, I can put you in touch with someone that may have info on that surname.

Hope this helps....Dell

We also are doing a family search for a line of Ariola's that are in my husbands family. My husband's g-mother was Sarah (Michelle, Michel supposed maiden name) Miller, Hugh Molanders SR, Sammy Malanders (he spelled name different not sure why but he is brother of Hugh SR, son of Sarah), Louise Price. Father of Hugh SR, Joe OR Joseph T. Molanders(might even be Melenders, or Melendez) Name was changed many years ago, not sure by whom or from which name. Does any of this info coincide with what you have?
Any info you could give would be greatly appreciated. Mean while I will check out the sites you mentioned.

Thanks,
Hugh Lynn Molanders JR

DELL,

Yes I am from Nacogdoches , was born there in 1959 to Hubert Molanders Sr. and Lea ann
Bailey (Bailey was her adopted last name).
My Grandmother was Sarah (Michelle) Miller.
She was from Zwolle, La. or Natchitoches, La.
so I was told by my dad. Hubert lives in Henderson at this time. He has mentioned Joe T. Molanders and Eugene Arriola. We were trying to figure out where the name Molanders came from. My uncle Sammy spelled his Malanders. Hubert told me the name as far as he knew was originally Melander. Melander is of Finland, Norway , netherland, and Denmark region of eurpoe. We were told we were from the Arriola family tree from Northern Spain. We are trying to find out who we are!!!!!!! My boys want to know as well...I have two Tennage boys that are curious.... Dad does not have a lot of information, or just wont give it..... My mother I know even less about, since she was adopted. My aunts name was Louise and she married Howard Price and lived in Beaumont, Tx. until she died in 1978 or 1979. My Grandma Sarah died in 1980 in Nacagdoches.

Thanks for your help, Hugh
