Hi All....

I am Ezequiel Armenta (aka Zeke)older sister Irene Arellano Armenta (Valenzuela by marraige only). I just came across this thread looking for our elder brother named Ezequeil Armenta whom I beleive to be born in either baja california or the long beach, ca area.

Anyhow, I have a bit more knowledge than my brother n our name.

We came originally form Mexico into Arizona. Our grandfathers name was Gilberto Cisneros Armenta. He married Maria De Jesus Soto (Armenta) in the early 1900's in ARizona. We still have family in Arizona that we are not familiar with. We beleive there is some trace of Yaqui Indian blood in our background because my father (Ezequiel Armenta) and uncle Gilberto Armenta both had personal knowledge of tribal songs. Sadly this tradition was lost when my uncle passed away a few years ago.

Originally Gilberto and Maria Armenta had 9 children, all but threepassed away in the mines of Arizona where my Grandfather worked in the early half of the 1900s. Back then if you got sick and the doctor wasn't there...you pretty much didn't survive. There youngest three children survived when they moved to Pheonix after which they returned to Mexico to a lil house on a hill utside of Tijuana, Baja California.

The surviving three children were

Gloria Armenta (Rivera by marraige)- currently living in Bellflower, CA with 2 children

Ezequiel Armenta (Deceased in the mid 1990's)survived by myself and my brother and and unknown number of other children( hehehe)

Gilberto Armenta (Deceased in early 2000's) survived by 10 adult shildren (too many to list). Most surviving children live in California or Arizona.

If anyone has questions, please feel free to email me opal4irene@yahoo.com
Gilberto

I don't know if we are related, but I am also looking for my greatgrandfather, Petronilo Armenta. He had a brother, don't know the name, that might have migrated to northen Mexico or southern USA. Petronilo lived in Guanajuato in the mid to late 1800's. Should you have any information on this, please contact me. Thank you!
