The main goal for this project is to help sort out all the Auman-Orman, Ahman, Aman, Amen, Amin, Ammon, Ammond, Arman, Armon, Awman, Ehrman, Oerman, Ohman, Ormond and all other variant spellings of the same name. Our objective is a standard one, to help any and all with the variant spellings of Auman-Orman to find missing family branches and to help point them in the right direction.

Y-chromosome DNA testing needs to be done by a male with the surname of Auman-Orman or one of the other variant spellings. The Y-chromosome is only carried by males and is passed from father to son. If you are a female researcher of this name, you will need to find a brother, father, uncle or cousin with one of Auman-Orman surname spellings to test for you.

I would like to invite any one with any of the varient spellings of the names Auman-Orman to join the Auman-Orman FamilyTreeDNA Project.

There was a painting that I had and lost-it was a pond in a forest-thats all that I can recall of it-I think there was also a log

Thank you for telling me of Hilda and that her brother was your gfather.
Do you know anything abt Emil for I only can find in the material that I have-that of the names of four of the eight siblings?
Do you know where Hilda and your gfather was born Maybe I can get information that I want by going around the point-the arc sort of. Do you know of any of the art groups that He belong to I wrote to several but only heard of two..

Hilda's maiden name was indeed Diamond. I know little else, except Hilda put herself through college at a time when doing so was rare. Her ne'er-do-well brother Joel is my grandfather.

Thank you for the invitation to join your Armin Line- I am honored. I have a Emil Armin,a cousin on my matriarchic side of my family.He had eight siblings of which I only have names of four.
He was a very well known artist and was so in Chicago.He married late in life to Hilda Diamond-no children.
Other information I have on him but I
do not have it in front of me.
I woulld like to know more about his parents and siblings.

Hilda Armin, nee Diamond, was my mother's aunt, not my aunt's mother. I have no idea about his other relatives.

I am afraid that I cannot help you in finding rare books of his-I am searching for a painting of his that my aunt paid for and I fell in love with. I lost it over twenty years ago in Skokie and in a move--I gather that I will never find it.

I live in Chicago (Hyde Park) where Mr. Armin lived. I have in possession several of his paintings. I would like to know more about him but all the books that listed him and his work are all out of print.

I was a very close friend of Hilda Armin, Emil Armin's widow; she died in the early 1990's and he died in 1971. The best source for information about him is the Illinois State Museum; there is a fine catalogue of a retrospective show held in 1980.

I was looking up some information on Emil, and noticed your message. My parents Morrie and Jo Granat were very close friends of Emil and Hilda's in Chicago.

Emil Armin the Chicago artist from Raudautz, Romania died on July 2, 1971 in Chicago.

I am searching for my cousin,Emil Armin, who came from Romania and settled in Chicago. He has held many art exihibits in Chicago and around the world I have many articles abt his art work and have found three of siblings out of eight and would like to find them too.

Emil married my mother's aunt, Hilda. The two lived in the Hyde Park artist's colony near the University of Chicago until Emil's death.
