My name is Nicole Cook and I am the great granddaughter of William J. and Lucy Armistead(Lucy's last name was possibly Jackson). I am reposting this message because I now have new information concerning my family. William was born in 1860 to Anthony and Kate Armistead. It's possible they had another child. To my knowledge Anthony was Kate's slave master but I am not sure were either of them were born. William was born in 1860 in South or North Carolina but later moved to Virginia. William and Lucy had 9 children: Ruth Jackson,(Lucy's older child from a previous relationship) Willie Ann, Jeanetta(twin), Leroy(twin), Mary(twin), Martha(twin), Frank(my grandfather), Andrew, and Moses(this is their birth order). Later my family's last name was changed, the i was removed when my grandfather and his siblings went to school so the teacher could separate the black Armistead's from the white.
