I too am doing research for James as well. I found some useful info that may help you. It also looks like you have info I didn't know.
Go ahead and email me back at mountainlovinmom@hotmail.com.

Talk to you soon.

A.

Hi Mark,
Did a brief (definitely not comprehensive!) Census search and I don't think my George D ancestor and your Richard and/or Thomas D ancestors would be siblings. I believe there are supposed to be different branches of the Dredges - including ones from Frome, Somerset and Wiltshire respectively - and I can't find too much about a Richard and/or Thomas born in Somerset about the same time as my George. Of course that's not conclusive, but I wonder whether your ancestors are from the Wiltshire branch?

Cheers
Francis

Hello Francis,

I also have a Dredge from both Glos. and Somerset. She is Mary Dredge b. circa 1838, more likely 1836, to, I believe, Thomas Dredge and Mary (?)
Confusingly I also have a Richard Dredge m. Sarah Sharp also in both Glos and Frome ... I am at a loss with this en d of my family.

Could Richard and/or Thomas possibly be siblings of your George?

Mark

Harold and Celia Armstrong

I am looking for any children or grandchildren of Harold and Celia Armstrong. Celia was the sister of my ggrandfather, Hubert Depew. She was born in Idaho in 1905, then the family moved on to the Seattle WA area. Her other siblngs were Blanch, who married Leslie Black, Hubert who married Ollie Carlson and Edith who never married, and from what I can find out was metally handicapped. I can't find anything on her after 1920, in a census with her mother. Celia's parents were William and Tessa(Collins) Depew. William and Tessa moved from Michigan to the Seattle area. They divorced sometime in the teens and William returned to Michigan. Tessa remarried, to Roy Erskine. I have a pic of them, and my grandfather labeled it as Harold and Celia Armstrong.

Armstrong family originally from Ohio?

I am seeking any information on Robert Armstrong b. abt 1820 Ohio, and his wife Dosha Mitchell. They were married in Decatur county Indiana in 1840. They remained there until 1860 when they end up in 1860 Tipton county Indiana. By 1870 they are living in Warren county Indiana, where they both die. Robert before 1896, and Dosha in 1885. They are both buried in the "Redwood" Cemetery, near West Lebanon Indiana. It has been told by my grandmother who remembered seeing her Armstrongs wearing black or gray, and they were of the "Dunkard" faith. Anyone know of Robert Armstrong or a place in Ohio where the Dunkards were settled? I do not know Robert's parents names, and that would be fantastic to find out.
Vickie

James E. Armstrong was born April 1860, his father was George Wesley Armstrong (1831-1879). George was the son of Enoch Armstrong and Winifred Patterson. All of these Armstrongs lived in Stafford County, VA. I am trying to trace the lineage back further, and have hit a brick wall.
Any info you might offer would be appreciated. Maybe another county?? or another state?? before they came to VA?
Depending on where you had your Armstrong YDNA tested you may want to compare your results with that of these other Armstrongs at our YDNA study
Not all labs look at the same markers.. so your not always comparing apples to apples - however if you'd contact me privately at ana@mtaonline.net I could help you with your comparisons.

Sincerely
John D.
Hi!
My granduncle George Armstrong made a family tree that started with Archibald Armstrong (c. 1668 - 1730), buried at Magheraveely. This naturally includes several of the people you mentioned. I don't suppose you know any more about Archibald's background. Or maybe you have a copy of the same material as mine...
best wishes
Niall

Hello kazza50

Don't suppose you know if your Armstrongs had descendants Francis b. about 1827 in Longtown, Cumberland? He ended up in Jarrow, Co. Durham with his family which included daughter Rachel. She married my great great grandad Frank William (Frank Wilhelm Polsson) Polson, a Swedish sailor, in 1879. They had 7 kids before Frank went back to Swden (supposedly) alone!

Thanks

Mick Sharp

I am assuming that her husband is the brother of Thomas Armstrong found in the 1901 census. DOES anyone know of this family? My thought is that Thomas Armstrong moved out of Crossmolina Parish because of his occupation.

These Jacksons are from Ballinglen, Doonfeeny Parish and connected to Crossmolina Parish.

I am seeking the birthplace of and the parents names for Thomas Armstrong (born c1749). Thomas was 35 (and from Wetheral parish) when he married Jane Bowman in 1784 at Irthington, Cumberland. A witness to the wedding was Thomas Armstrong - could this be his father?? He and Jane had a son named Thomas (1784) who married Ann Thompson in 1810 also at Irthington.
Can anyone help us? We are trying to trace my husbands tree. Beginning with his grandfather who was called Robert Armstrong born 4 Feb 1909, he was a porter on the railway in norfolk just before ww2 and went into the marines based off the lowestoft coast. Unfortunately he died in 1943 leaving no info on his family.

We have very little info on his parents and his location of birth, from his war records he was born either in dundee or Aberdeen and his father was John who was a carpenter.

If anyone can provide any further info or can link this info into their family please let me know it would be great to find out if there are some relatives out there.
