I am looking for a Jake Arndt who is my great grandfather's biological father. My great grandfather was born Dec 1905 in Minnesota. My great grandmother was Ingabell Marie Dahl and was only 17 when she got pregnant. They didn't marry and went their seperate ways. Would be really curious if the Jake Arndt you speak of could be the same person?

Thanks,
Lisa Major

In addition to researching my own family history, I am also a vintage photo dealer. I currently have an original cabinet style photograph of the Arndt/Johnke? Jahnke? Family of Cleveland, Ohio. I'd like very much to help them find their way back to their family. Feel free to contact me via the message system. I don't check the message boards very often.

Elmer Arndt photo

While at an antique shop in the Chicago suburbs, I purchased a photo with the name "Elmer Arndt" handwritten on the back. The photo is of an infant. I'd guess it was taken around 1920. Checking online records, I see there is an Edward Elmer Arndt, who was born 7 Dec 1917, S. Chicago, Cook Co., IL to Edward Elmer Arndt (Sr.) & his wife Amanda. Later census records show the younger Edward Elmer enumerated as Elmer. I'd guess (but cannot prove) this is the Elmer of the photo. I'd love for this photo to go to a descendant. Please contact me through the Arndt Message Board (I would not see a message posted to the List).

Re: Fred. Arndt in Milwaukee...?

For anyone returning to this Arndt family research, there are several Fred. and Friedrich Arndt entries in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950). For instance, there was a Fred. Arndt (71 yrs.) who committed suicide in 1892, but also a completely different Friedrich died that year. There are about 300 Arndt entries in the current data.

For more specific information contact:
Gary Rebholz, compiler/editor
Milwaukee Wis.
gary.rebholz@gmail.com
Indexing Milwaukee's German newspapers continuously since 2007... helping to access our historic German-American culture.

hi. thank you for your posting. i live in toledo, oh. are you having fun researching your ancestors? is there some unique or exciting personage you are enjoying researching? it is so interesting to do this kind of work. you never know what you'll find. my research is that emma's mom was from Oliva, in Gdansk. her parents were August Leschinski (aka Stanislaus Leszczynski) and Maria Pranschke Leschinski. I did see a bunch of Arendt/Arndt in the birth and marriage records from Oliva but i didn't record them. i can give you the microfilm numbers if you want them. i am wondering if there were Leszczynski/Leschinski in Neuteich? August Kranzusch was from Pommerania but i didn't research him too much. let me know if i can help.

John Paul Arendt, my grandfather, was Frank Anthony Arndt's
Brother. Frank married Emma Kranzusch. Their daughter was Allison Earlene Arndt.
Frank & Emma are in Park View Cemetary, in Bloomington.
John & Frank's Mom and Dad were from Neuteich West Preussia. It is about 65 miles south of Danzig.
Do you live near Bloomington ? WE are 5 1/2 hours away in Indiana.
I was unaware of where the Kranzusch family was from.
All the German Records use the spelling of "ARENDT" in Neuteich. Court records in Bloomington use "ARENDT". I can not find out why the others in John Jacob's used "ARNDT".
Look forward to hearing from you. AL

Hi there,
It has been quite some time since you have posted this. I hope you are still around.

My mother's maiden name is Arth. Her grandfather Andreas Arndt came to the USA from Hrastovac born there in 1891. I found that on a wwI draft card and there is some genealogy already done online but I am not sure what is right. We know very little about the family and would like to know anything you know.

Thanks very much!
Justine
