My great grandfather emigrated from Norway April 1, 1881. He was born in Grue Nov. 17, 1854. His parents are Arne Hansen Gaardsmoe(n) and Bethe Olsdatter Moe. They lived on the Gaardsmoen farm. I would like to know who lives there now and if there are any relatives there in Norway with whom I can communicate. There was a Johan but I think he passed away... Anyhow Karelius married Julinne Olsdatter Knaushaug and had 6 sons: Karelius, Hans, Aksel, Ole, Marin, and Bertinius who all emigrated to Willmar,MN. Bertinius died soon after arriving and is buried near Norway Lake. After moving to the US Karelius took the last name Ostby and there is an Ostby township near Willow City, ND because so many of them lived there.
