Just ran across this post. You may already have this info.

Minnie was my great-grandmother. The information I have on Ethel is that she was married to Fred Arnett. Born on Feb 19, 1906 in Oklahoma City, Grant, Oklahoma, United States. She died Aug 4, 1989.

I think Avery County was part of Mitchell County until 1913.
I have had to look in Mitchell County for several folks I
absolutely knew were born in what is now Avery. I have not found any Arrents, Arrans, or others similar to what I am
looking for (Orren), but am becoming more persuaded some of
them might have been listed as Arnetts.
In looking for my Orren ancestors (all the names used in this post have been used in my family, Arren, Orent, Arnt, etc.) I found a Jacob AARNS in 1820 in Loudon Co. VA that you might want to look into. I am interested in Lincoln Co. in early 1800s, then Wilkes in 1830 and 1840. My gg grandfather was Peter Washington Orren who m. Nancy Hicks in Washington Co TN in 1850. A Paula Orren Fuller was a descendant of Jacob Orren born 1863 son of a Henry Orren and Leannah Chapman. Hope this will help somebody. I have long suspected some of them were listed as Arnetts.

According to information I have received from other Arnett descendants (especially the late Charles Rockwood), your David Arnett was actually "David P. Arnett", the son of George & Catherine Holler Arnett and the grandson of Bartholomew & Catherine ? Arnett.

Looking closer at my file, I see that I have your grandparents' obituaries and you are listed as a survivor in your grandmother's obituary. However, due to your mother's second marriage (I did not know of her marriage to your dad, Bruce Lile), I was not able to figure out whose child you were. Thanks to you, that problem has now been fixed and you, Amy Jo & Katie have been added to our ARNETT family tree.

I believe that the best way to make sure that the work of "The Descendants of Barthalomew Arnett" is not lost is to share it with other descendants of Bartholomew Arnett. Of course, I would certainly appreciate any updates and/or corrections on your branch of our ARNETT Family Tree. If you feel the same, drop me a line at wream@bright.net and I will see that you get what I have on the 15,500 (+ or = a few) descendants of Bartholomew Arnett. The 15,500 figure includes those who entered the Arnett family tree via the matrimonial gate, ergo: your father and my father being prime examples.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Bill Ream

My David Arnett married Magdalena Knee. They had a daughter Catharine who married Enos Anthony. Their son Alonzo Anthony is my g-g-grandfather. Just not sure if David is the son of George or John. The "P" is not sure; not even sure how that snuck in there at this point. The only sure reference I have is the 1850 census http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1850usfedcenan...
It seems one of the David's (Bart's grandsons) married Mary and one married Magdalena.
I have two people who could be your David Arnett and both are Bartholomew Arnett's grandsons.

First, "David Arnett", born 3 Feb. 1818, was a son of John Arnett (1784-1862) & Sarah Pippinger (1794-?).

Secondly, "David P. Arnett", born 16 Oct. 1814-1816?, the son of George Arnett (1790-1869)& Catherine Holler (1790-?).

Would you know who your David P. Arnett's wife was? How about a child or children? With either his wife or children, I may be able to tell which David Arnett is your David P. Arnett.

I am descended from Bartholomew Arnett as follows:

1) Bartholomew Arnett md Catherine ?
2) David Arnett md Susanna Snyder
3) William Arnett md Mary Jane Wissinger
4) Earl Jesse Arnett md Rose Bell Bond
5) Opal Gladys Arnett md Norbert M. Cruea (my maternal grandparents)

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing how you're related to the ARNETT family!

Sincerely,
William "Bill" H. Their first child was Richard Franklin Arnett (my uncle), Cathy Ann Arnett (my aunt), and Mary Elizabeth Arnett (my mother). If you would like to review my family tree to confirm this, feel free. Not matter who is buried there they mattered to someone at some point in time. It is sad to say the least.
If it is no trouble, I would like those pictures.
The one of David I just happeded across on the internet one day, someone has it posted on their family tree on genealogy.com.
My husband & I have been to the Arnett Cemetery in Bell County and found Samantha's grave. That's where I found the date of birth and death. But, nobody seems to know anything about her. The graveyard has grown over. There is strip mining all around it. At the time, the graveyard itself hadn't been touched by the mining.
Yes, I would love to have a picture of David Arnett!
Robert B Miracle, son of Samantha Arnett and Levi Henry Miracle died in a coal mining accident in Harlan Co, Ky. in July 1953.

My husband's grandmother's name was Samantha Arnett Miracle. She was married to Levi Henry Miracle and they had one son, Robert Miracle. Samantha died when he was a year old. I'm sorry that I'm reading this post so late. I just hope that you can still get this. Would love to learn more about the Arnett's and the Miracle's.
Diane Miracle

I wish that there were enough people to help clean the graveyard but don't know very many people who have family there that would be willing to help. It's too much for us to do alone. Our children are scattered or they would help us. I have pictures of the grave stones if you are interested. Thank you for the picture of David Arnett. Wonder if there is a picture of his wife, Sarah, around?

Re: Nathan Arnett

Nathan Arnett (1760, Kent County, Delaware - 27 November 1927, Saint Clair County, Illinois) was a Baptist preacher.
This is from "The Republican," a newspaper of Marion, Williamson County, Illinois, dated 22 July 1839:
July 1939:
ARNETT
--Tennessee history says that in 1798 Nathan Arnett gathered the Free Will Baptists in Robertson County, Tennessee into a church near Turnersville. He was an elderly man and too old to preach when he arrived in Franklin now Williamson County about 1815 and settled on "eight mile
prairie". The 1816 census says he had nine persons in his family. He died about 1831 or 32 and his wife Isabel was appointed administratix of his estate.
--His daughter, Rebecca S. Arnett (1803-1846) married Richard Tyner, who was first settler of the site of Marion. He lived in a cabin about where the Illinois Central Station now stands and sold his "improvement" to William Benson in 1826. Near this cabin home was a low swamp plot of land the home of ducks and plover: [clover?] Rebecca's daughter Barthena married Col. Horace Lewis Boyer in 1845. Emma Boyer, teacher in Southern Illinois State Teacher's College and many others in Carbondale are descendants of Rebecca.
--Jacob Arnett, a minister was in the county in an early day. He and his wife Sarah or Sarah Ann owned land in 1833, which they sold to Roderick Reed in 1836 in Herrin Township.
-- Alexander Arnett lived in Herrin Township in 1833. He was road commissioner in Phelps Prairie in 1839.

----
There was another son named Nathan Arnett, who was born in 1795 in North Carolina. I have no other information on him.

Nathan Arnett, the Baptist Minister

I'm looking for Nathan Arnett, while my husband and I have no blood relation to him he became the guardian of some relatives. Samuel and William Smith were put into custody of Nathan when there mother, Rebbecca Holcomb smith died in 1847 St. Clair, Illinois. On the Guardianship papers there is no indication of who Samuel and Williams father is. I know Samuel was born about 1833. I'm hoping that anyone who has Nathan Arnett, a Baptist minister, on there family line might have information relating to Samuel and William

Re: Nathan Arnett

My husband has 2 relatives that were taken in by Nathan Arnett the Baptist Minister. Samuel and William Smith were taken in when there mother died in 1847. Because she died in 1847 I know that this is not the same Nathan Arnett, but what I was hoping is that maybe you knew of another Nathan Arnett in St.Clair that would have been alive to take Samuel and William in. What I'm really after is to see if with the Nathan Arnett I am trying to find, is if there is more information regarding Samuel and Williams father. The Guardianship papers only have there mother (Rebbecca Holcomb) on them and no father listed. Any help would be appreciated, even if it's to say that there is not another Nathan Arnett.
