Dora Arno

I am trying to find information on my great-great-grandmother Dora Arno. She was born around 1895 in Tennessee, and was married by 1920 to Abe Kundert in Wisconsin.

The only record that I could find that lists Dora Arno was from a 1910 census. She was only 15 at that time and not living with her parents. According to this census, her father was from Italy and her mother from Germany. However in later censuses it states her father is from the United States of America.

Any information would be very helpful!!

Thank you

I'm not surprised. The French Canadians had strange ways of naming their children. I found in several cases that a child had died and when the next child of the same sex was born they named that child the same as the deceased child. Sure can confuse a family tree unless you can find records that back up the information.

There is a Peter Arno from NY who was famous for something but I lost interest because I could not connect him to my line. I wonder if that is the line that developed and sold "Arno" tape.
Well, that is very strange! My Francis Xavier was born May 12, 1822 in Laprairie, Quebec, Canada and died June 22, 1876 in Antrim County. He was married to Lydia La Vene. His father is listed as Pierre Renaud (could be aka Peter Arno) and his mother as Catherine Petel. The couple lived in Ellensburg, NY as that is where the children were born: Louis Francis Arno and Charles Franklin Arno. Louis Francis Arno did marry a Rosetta Adelaide Evans who was from OHIO.

Very Strange! My Francis became Samuel Arno in Ohio and to my knowledge all of his children came to Ohio. His father was Jean Baptiste Renaud. Samuel married Philomene Pelkey (Pelletier) daughter of Gaspard and Felonase Pelletier. I did receive a copy of Samuel's birth certificate from Canada so I know I have the correct one for my lineage.

Sharon, I believe you said that you were following the Francis Xavier Arno line. According to my records he had two children - Louis Francis Arno 1851 and Charles Franklin Arno 1854. Franscis Xavier's father was (on my line) Pierre Renaud (m.Catherine Petel) and Pierre's father was Louis Renaud (1754). Let me know if this sound familiar. :)

I recently discovered through a cousin that Louis Francis Arno line did come from Canada Renaud/Regnault and the line goes back to France in the 1600s. It sounds like we have the same ancestors! Louis and family traveled to Alberta, Canada at about 1913-14 before coming into Idaho. My father was born in Elk Rapids, Michigan. My grandfather had several siblings.

My Arno line is only connected to Ohio via Canada as far as I know. I am researching ARNO(RENAUD) / PELKEY(PELTIER)/JEFFERS connection. Would any of those names be in your copy of the book?

She married Antonio Santagate and their first son was born in Messina. They settled in the Boston area between 1911-1913, where the remaining four sons were born. She died in 1928.
