Hi Cousins,
Just in the last few days I've come across information that my GGG Grandmother Elizabeth (Erwine) Schoonover is documented on the Arwine Family List and also the Erway Family List. I noticed that no one had been able to find out about her life. Well, she married a Dutchman. This memo will amend that missing link.
Elizabeth Erwine married my GGG Grandfather Joseph Henry Schoonover, Sr. about 1817 probably in Stillwater, Sussex County, New Jersey. They had 9 children, all born in Stillwater, NJ. Their 2nd child, Cornelius Schoonover, born on 24 Jan 1820, died on 20 Aug 1823 and must be buried somewhere in Stillwater although I have not found the gravesite.
About 1835-1837 the entire family moved to Comstock, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. They are recorded there in 1837. On 13 July 1843, Joseph Schoonover, Sr. passed away in Comstock, MI. Elizabeth Schoonover passed away on 16 May 1875 in Vicksburg, Kalamazoo County, Michigan. The entire family is documented on Rootsweb/
Their children were:
Locy J. Schoonover, born 12 Dec 1818, died 6 Sep 1896
Cornelius Schoonover, born 24 Jan 1820, died 20 Aug 1823
Joseph Henry Schoonover, Jr. born 12 Jan 1822, died 22 apr 1899
Rebecca Schoonover, born 3 Oct 1823, died 4 Mar 1905
George L. Schoonover, born 6 Aug 1825, died 18 Feb 1894
Mary Hester Schoonover, born 8 Feb 1828, died 8 July 1905
Margaret Schoonover, born 27 Nov 1830, died 5 Sep 1901
John W. Schoonover, born 9 Aug 1833, died 16 Jan 1863
Susan Jane Schoonover, born 17 Nov 1835, died 29 Apr 1900
I am a direct descendant of Locy Schoonover, Joseph and Elizabeth Schoonover's first child and first son.
Robert Jesse Schoonover
