I have seen some errors on the internet concerning Paul Arpin/Harpin married to Josephte Laporte. There were 2 Paul Arpins that married different women who both had the name Josephte Laporte.
The first one was Paul Arpin/Harpin dit Poitvin who was the son of Joseph Arpin and Marguerite Perron. He first married Marie Josephte Chapdelaine (daughter of Pierre Chapdelaine & Marie Anne Leclerc) on 28 Oct 1797 at St-Ours, Quebec. After his first wife died, Paul married a second time to Josephte Laporte. She was the widow of Antoine Menard and the daughter of Francois Laporte and Marie Josephte Houle/Houd. She and Paul were married 9 Jan 1815 at St-Ours, Quebec.

Paul (from his first marriage to Marie Josephte Chapdelaine) had a son also named Paul who first married Josephte Laporte (daughter of Jacques Laporte dit St. Georges and Marie Charlotte Thibault) on 10 Jan 1820 at St-Ours, Quebec. After she died, Paul married a second time to Josephte Desrosiers (daughter of Jean Baptiste Desrosiers and Catherine Laroche) on 28 Sep 1841 at Sorel, Quebec.

The second Paul had a son from his second marriage who married Rosina Adeline Boulerice. In their marriage record, he is called Victorin, but he later shows up in 1910 & 1920 censuses in Malone, NY as Paul and his last name has been "Americanized" to Harper.
