My immediate family lived in (in fact we still have some family in) Michigan. I've just started trying to research our family tree for my kids... I'm so lost as to how to get started. My Grandfather is Roger Arrand, he had sisters, I remeber Virginia, and I think there was Marjorie (I could be wrong on the spelling).

I've heard that all Arrands in North America are closely related as well, maybe we can help each other out?

I'm in the same boat, basically, and this is a real stab in the dark. My great grandfather spelled his name Errand or Errend and was a total mystery man. I'm wondering if he might have been part of the Arrand family as there were always stories that he had somehow minutely changed his name. He was: William N. (or M.) Errand or Errend. Our first trace of him is in Michigan in 1888 where my grandfather was born. Does this ring any bells?? A missing guy somewhere in the Arrand tree??

Those of us trying to trace the Arrand family tree in Canada have yet to come across anyone in the U.S. or Canada who is not descendant from George Arrand.

Gregory, if you are interested in exchanging information, e-mail me.

Here is the information you need from Kelli. We are both researching the same family. George Arrand was born in England approximately 1903. He married Mary Ann Martin 6-25-1833 in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, England. They had a son, William, who was christened 6-30-1834. Family history then shows them leaving England and coming to the state of New York. Some family records don't show this stop in New York though. William did not make the journey. At least he doesn't show up on any other family records. George and Mary then had 11 more chidren, Thomas, Sarah, John, Charles William, Mariah, Helen, Eliza, William(my gggrandfather), Ann, Robert, and Charlotte. I have been able to find information on Charles William and Mariah. William was born about 1858. He then married Mary Jane Lyons or Mary Dickson, both women appear in family records. They had 4 children. Charles William who lived in London, Ontario, Canada. George Frederick, who had 12 children, was born on 6-1-1878 and died 2-3-1962 in Dorchester, London. Mae who married Albert Arrand, a cousin. They had a child, Kenneth of Saskatoon. Our ggrandmother was Alida Prudence who married Archibald Graham. Thanks for all your help. It's always good to find someone else who is researching the same family.
