Surnames: Arrington, Formby
I'm trying to find my great grandmother's family. My grandmother told me before she passed away that her mothers name was Catherine (could also be spelled with a "K" or could be Candis/Candie, that's what it says on my grandmothers bc) Formby/Arrington. I've found an African-American family who had a daughter named Candy Arrington who was 12 on the 1920 census, which goes with around the time my g grandmother would have been born. Her parents are listed as Steve and Lucy Arrington. They have two other daughters (Nell and Lucille) and a son (L B) listed on that census as well. They all where born in AL but living in MS at the time of the census. I also found them on the 1900 census and they had a daughter named Annie whose DOB was approx 1887 and a nephew named Hugh Harris (who some older members of my family remembered). I located Annie in the 1910 census and she had moved back to (McGehees, Montgomery, AL) and married a Mell Arrington and had a son named Will (this confuses me). I'm pretty much stuck right here. If anyone has information on any of these African American Arringtons (slave records or any other records) it would be greatly appreciated. Also I was told that Catherine/Candis Arrington was mixed with Cherokee Indian which is believe-able because my grandmother looked very much Indian. I just need some direction as what to do/ where to go next. Thank you in advance.
