I know this discussion is several years old, but hopefully you are still checking the message boards.

I think all of the children of William Sandefur and Mary Tompkins eventually went from Southampton, VA to North Carolina by 1796, the last being Samuel Sandifor and he went to Wake County, NC. The first was probably daughter Mary who married Arthur Arrington, Jr. (To Edgecombe, that part that later became Nash County). Son William Sandeford (b. 1743) sold his Southampton property in 1770 to Benjamin Spivey (DB 4, p. 304), and was already living in Edgecombe at that time. Benjamin Spivey was a witness to the deed when Hill Sandeford sold his Southampton land later in the year, and witness on a gift deed from Benjamin Hasty, for love and affection, to Tompkins Sandeford in 1772.

Some of Wm. Sandefur and Mary Tompkins grandchildren appear in Burke County, GA in the very early 1800s, and there are also some Sandefurs (Sandiford, Sandeford, Sandifer) in Jefferson County where John Still Sandefur married Selvia Spivey in 1809. Several of the Jefferson County Sandefurs moved on to Crawford County, GA.

I have some slight clues they may have been connected to some Sandefurs who were in Edgefield County, SC from 1796 - c1830.

I am especially trying to determine if John Still Sandefur who m. Selvia Spivey connects to the family of William Sandefur and wife Mary Tompkins, and understand the various Sandefur/Spivey connections.

Any input would be appreciated. Is there anything in the Spivey books about Selvia Spivey or other Spivey/Sandefur/Sandiford connections?

Tarney (Sandifer) Smith

They had a girl named Carrie Virginia Harrison, my great grandmother. She married Howard Harrison. They had Ethel Mae Harrison (Viar). Down the rd she married an Ernest Robinson. They had Ernest C. Robinson, my father. My name is Ernest Branden Robinson. I am confused in your post you state who her parents are in the beginning, but then you ask if anyone knows info about her paretns. That probably doesnt help you in your search but I thougth you would like to know.

Branden Robinson

I have a letter with information about the Ashen Family. Ezekial Arrington was married to Elizabeth Ashen and Sarah Thompson Stayton raised their children after Hill D Stayton died. I have a letter about their plantation in North Carolina. It says they left after the Revolutionary War because there Plantation was destroyed. They finally got back on there feet and ended up in Phillips Co, Arkansas. Then there brand new 2 story house burned. This is about all I have but the letter refered to the Ashen women who told the story.

Shirley Ann ARRINGTON b circa 1940

Hello!

I am trying to locate any information on Shirley Ann ARRINGTON, who was probably born 1938-1940. She was also known as Shirley Ann SMITH, daughter of Robert SMITH and Elizabeth HOFFMEISTER.

In about 1957 in Michigan, Shirley married Ronald Joseph ARBOUR (1938-1979) and they had 3 children: Louis 1958, Peggy Sue 1959, and Turner 1968.

Shirley and Ronald divorced in about 1969. Shirley died in 1972, after complications following surgery. The 3 kids were then placed -- the older two with Ronald's father and the youngest with Shirley's parents.

Is anyone familiar with this family? Please help piece together this puzzle.

Thanks!

Austin ARRINGTON

Can anyone help me to identify the Austin ARINGTON (age 17) in the 1850 census in Prince William Co, VA. He is living with the Silas REID family ... the third family enumerated after Albert ARRINGTON (age 25) with whom Washburn ARRINGTON (age 58) resided. Is Austin a son of Washburn?

All I know about the Austin that I am looking for is that he reportedly was born in Leesburg, Loudon Co on 11 Jun 1832 and he had a brother Thomas born in 1819 in Fairfax Co, VA. Austin and Thomas moved to Carroll Co, MD by 1855.

I am not related to Austin ARRINGTON, I am simply trying to help a cousin prove or disprove stories that have been pssed down through the family.

1860 and 1870 census records indicate that he was born in Maryland, only the 1880 census shows Virginia. As I said there is an Austain ARRINGTON in Prince William Co, VA that is the correct age to be him ... but is it?

If there is anything that you would like to share, I will be glad to pass the information along.

My father has passed, but I don’t know a lot about his family except he was born in Mississippi and the Arrington name came from his mother. He said she was part Indian. I would really like to know more about the Arrington family, if anyone knows about any Arrington’s that settled in Mississippi I would appreciate the information
Arrington in AL and MS

I'm trying to find my great grandmother's family. My grandmother told me before she passed away that her mothers name was Catherine (could also be spelled with a "K" or could be Candis/Candie, that's what it says on my grandmothers bc) Formby/Arrington. I've found an African-American family who had a daughter named Candy Arrington who was 12 on the 1920 census, which goes with around the time my g grandmother would have been born. Her parents are listed as Steve and Lucy Arrington. They have two other daughters (Nell and Lucille) and a son (L B) listed on that census as well. They all where born in AL but living in MS at the time of the census. I also found them on the 1900 census and they had a daughter named Annie whose DOB was approx 1887 and a nephew named Hugh Harris (who some older members of my family remembered). I located Annie in the 1910 census and she had moved back to (McGehees, Montgomery, AL) and married a Mell Arrington and had a son named Will (this confuses me). I'm pretty much stuck right here. If anyone has information on any of these African American Arringtons (slave records or any other records) it would be greatly appreciated. Also I was told that Catherine/Candis Arrington was mixed with Cherokee Indian which is believe-able because my grandmother looked very much Indian. I just need some direction as what to do/ where to go next. Thank you in advance.
