Sounds like your Native American side is on your mother's side of the family and not the Arrowood side.

I am a decendant of Ashley Sumner Arrowood ( A S Arrowood)
born Aug 7, 1896 in Greenwood SC. Their family was from Madison N. C.
From all the information I have, we have no Cherokee roots.
If you have any info on A.S. Arrowood, I would like to read it.

I have the dark skin high creek bones, and so on my grandmother is Florence Arrowood from Cocke Co Tn.Her father James Harvey Arrowood from Haywood Co N.C. married Sarah Hall of cocke co Tn. Which Native American Tribe did they belong to.

Those names ring a bell with me, but where are you located? The Rutherford County, NC is a good place to start your seach. My husband, Noland, was from that area.

Hi. I just started researching my husband's family; his sister did a lot of work already though. Bertie Arrowood and William Pinckney Whitt were my husband's great grandparents. William P Whitt's parents were James (Jim) Whitt and Mary? Roushie (sp?) Rooker who died 11 April 1871. Hope this helps.

Wow my mother said that we must be related to each other
and that Erie-Chesterfeild was across from us and the land was some of the 128 W.Haywood St that was sold it was a big lot of property that she lived on as a child and yes that land was in Aheville N.C .
I am so excited because this is the first time that i have came across the Arrowood name that lived on the same street as we did like i said before my mother said when she a young girl that they would have famliy from all over come for a family gathering everyweekend @ 128 W. Haywood St in Asheville N.C in Buncombe county.
I just know we are related some how .
This is so hard for me because i only have limited info from my mother that she can remember .
I am going to search @ wwwbuncombe county. org for more in fo on the time period of when some of the land was sold so please give me time to locate this info.

the Haywood Street rang a bell. I looked up an obituary I have for my great-grandfather's brother Columbus Bascombe Arrowood. He lived on Heywood also, at 585 Haywood. Also, his brother, my g-grandfather Lonnie V. Arrowood, lived at Westwood Place for many years, and worked at Erle-Chesterfield. They had other brothers, and I wonder if you're of any of them.. There was a Unas Astor Arrowood and Josiah (or Joe Siah). I'm also curious about the land that had to be sold. Was this in Asheville? My g-grandfather had a farm in Madison County, but sold or lost it between 1920-1924. That's when he moved to West Asheville.

My Mother Linda Arrowood, grandfather Albert Lester Arrowood 1913-2000, Great Grandfather Luther Clifton Arrowood 1888-?, and Great Great Grandfather Wilson Arrowood ?-? (Married to Betty Bennett) Anyone with information to help me break through this brick wall will be greatly appreciated.

In my tree I show a second cousin "Julia Emma Arrowood" born 1904, married to a "Joby Hollifield". Is there any relation between you and "Joby"? Julia's father was "Elijah Jethro Arrowood", whose father was my great uncle, "Alfred N. Arrowood" and his father was my great-great-great grandfather "Jeremiah Arrowood". All these were from Rutherford, North Carolina. It is my understanding that Jeremiah is buried in Rutherford although I do not know where.

My mother in law is Ella Ruth Anders, her mother was Ellen Louise Arrowood.
Her mother whom I knew....Great Granny "Ollie Savannah Crowder Arrowood" looked full blooded Native American, she died just about 10 years ago now at about the age of 100!

I'm having a difficult time trying to find where the Native American is in the family, so as of the end of April sometime, my mother-in-law is taking a DNA test to see for certain. They said it will even tell her from what tribe she is from.
They all have always come from the mountains and hollers of North CArolina. If anyone can help me out with the Arwoods, Arrowoods, please help.

I am one of Alice Pettit's sisters. I have been trying to find information about my great-grandfather whose name was suppose to be Mathias Arrowood. I have hit a dead-end with that name. Do you know if it could be a middle name or a nickname?

Have you been able to get in touch with Debbie Arrowood? I thought she might have more information since she is my Uncle John's daughter.

My great-grandparents were Mathias Arrowood and Sarah Honeycutt from North Carolina. My grandfather was Jonathan Jehue Arrowood born Jan 6,1856 in Burnsville, NC. The family later moved to Tennessee after Sarah died. My grandfather married Bertie Bliss Fletcher from Somerville, Tenn. They had five children: Margaret May, John Wilson, Laura Gertrude(my mother), Annie Edna and Edward McClain. Does anyone have any information about this branch of Arrowoods? I am especially interested in Mathias Arrowood since I have hit a dead end. I'm not sure if this is his first name, middle name or a nickname or if I possibly have a wrong first name. Would appreciate any help.

I am a second cousin. Your grandmother, Margaret May Arrowood is my mother's sister and my grandmother was Bertie Bliss Fletcher Arrowood. My mother's name was Laura Gertrude Arrowood. My sister Alice and I were keeping in touch with Aunt Margie for some time, but we have not been able to find her now. I believe her husband, Virgil Hancock has passed away and she must have moved. Aunt Margie's father was Jonathan Jehue Arrowood.

My mother said the name Joby Hollifield she believes rings a bell.
She said that on the weekends that @ their home on 128 W.Haywood st they would have get togethers and that family from all over would come .
And that William Blain Hollifield died on the rock in world war 2 does that sound right to you. I know that our family lived out for along time my mother was born there and her brother, As well as me and my sister Janice Renna Arrowood.
Trying to find my family roots has been challenging for me .
May be you can post some pictures and i can see if anybody looks like my granmother or mother .
My mother said that the land we lived on that her family had to sell some of it back then .
Maybe something here sounds familiar to you .

William Garrett Arrowood would have been my great Grandfather, and George Washington Arrowood was then my great great grandfather. They are both buried in Waverly, Ohio.

I have quite a bit if information on Arrowoods from NC going back to early 1800s. I have a William D in the 1820-1850 census of Buncombe County. From everything I have been able to find as well as info from a cousin who researched the NC area, the story of Elizabeth Anderson (m) William Daniel Arrowood appears to be fiction. None of the tribal registrations include any Anderson connection. I think it is just one of those stories that no one can prove.
