Dear Gillian

I don't know if there is a relationship, but my fathers family did come to the US from Pensford, England. My grandfather, George William Arthrell, was 16 years old in 1900 and arrived in New York on July 4 of that year. He was with his aunt and headed for Braddock County PA where Pittsburg is located. He died in 1980 at age 96. He had a brother Charlie, and several other siblings, but my father, George Willian Arthrell (age 90), doesn't remember their names.

I have heard that there are Arthrell relatives in Australia, and one contacted my Aunt Charlotte (my fathers sister) about twenty-five years ago. His name was Robert Arthrell (62 Riddle Road, Sunbury, Victoria Australia 3429.

The name is uncommon in the US, but there are family members in the Cleveland, Ohio area, and some remain in the Pittsburg, PA area.

PS It seem I wasn't just named after my Uncle Kent, but the Kent name is a geographic reference to a location of family origin, e.g., Kent England.
