IOWA CITY, Iowa
William Lyle Arthur, 75, Iowa City, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City, after an extended illness.

Graveside services are at the Columbus City Cemetery. The Rev. Cathy Whitlatch will officiate.

There will be no visitation. The Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Arthur was born on April 5, 1928, in Cotter, the son of Evan and Ruth Peters Arthur.

He graduated from Columbus High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from May 4, 1946, to March 4, 1948.

He worked as plumber in the Iowa City area for many years.

Survivors include a son, Mark W. Arthur of Oceanside, Calif.; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Keith, both of California; and a sister, Evelyn Quigley of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lee and Leonard; and two sisters, Leona and Gwendlyn.

WASHINGTON, Iowa
Wilma Arthur, 85, of Washington, formerly of Columbus Junction, died Nov. 20, 2008, at the Washington Hospital.
Funeral services will be at Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. The Rev. Rick Crooks will officiate. Burial will be at the Cambrian Cemetery. Casketbearers will be grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the funeral home with a Eastern Star service.
Mrs. Arthur was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Elm Grove Township, Louisa County, the daughter of Evan 'Dutch”'. and Jesse (Moody) Rees. She married Kenneth Arthur Aug. 19, 1947, at the Spring Run Church, Columbus Junction. She was a graduate of Wyman High School and A.I.B.
She worked at the Crawfordsville Bank and later was employed at the Farm Service office in Columbus Junction. She substituted in the lunch program at Columbus Community School and was self employed as the 'egg Lady' delivering eggs for more than 25 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Louisa County Historical Society, Louisa County Farm Bureau Women, Order of the Eastern Star in Wayland and Brighton and the White Shrine Ladies. She was also the secretary of the Rees family reunion. She planned her day around the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls athletic events. She was very social with family and friends and enjoyed her grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Ivan Arthur and his wife, Christal, of Columbus Junction, and Jeanne Davis and her husband, Scott, of Crawfordsville; eight grandchildren, Jessica Stanford of Saratoga Spring, Utah, Jim Arthur of Salt Lake City, Utah, Richard Arthur of Iowa City, Laura Schilaty of Everett, Washington, Ryan and Marcus Davis of Wayland, Angela and Amber Davis at home, 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frieda Finke and her husband, Merlin of Crawfordsville and Audrey Finke of Washington; sisters-in-law, Arlene Jones of Ainsworth and Jan Rees of Columbus Junction.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2002 and a brother, Don Rees
