Hi Crystal!

My e-mail has changed since I last posted here. It's now padrake@sbcglobal.net
We are still trying to pin down William Arters/Arthur's parents in PA.I think we are getting closer. There is now an Arthur DNA Project set up for males with the last name of Arthur.William was born 1770 in we believe Mifflin Co.,PA. Please send me a direct e-mail. We are cousins. I descend from James Arters/Arthur & his wife Moriah Jane Adkisson's son Daniel Davisson Arthur & his wife Louisa Almirah Saurborn;through their daughter Icey Dora Arthur & her husband Eli Carrington Drake,Sr. Their son Eli Carrington Drake,Jr. was my father.

I don't have access to Ancestry. It's NOT in my budget unfortunately.

Cousin Pam Drake in IN.

I know it has been a while since your post, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I too am a descendant of William and Mary Friend-Arthur through their son James Arthur and his wife Mariah Jane Adkinson. Their son, John Anderson Arthur was my great-great-grandfather and he married Martha Salome Criss. Their son,Rezin White Arthur, was married to Oma Gay Stutler and their daughter was named Delma Sloane Arthur and was my grandmother. She was married to Glover Ota Starcher and their oldest child is my mother, Patricia Ann Starcher-Criss. I'm not sure how much info you have already, but on my Ancestry .com page, I have dates of birth and death along with some siblings and where family was born. The name of the family tree is Criss-Starcher. If you cannot reach me there, I have alerts to let me know when someone posts on this message board. Hope to hear from you soon, Crystal Criss-Sexton

I'm sorry, but I don't know who Rachel's parents were. I thought perhaps Rachel was a sister to Anna Elliot who married Amos Arthur (also moved to Auglaize County), but I never found evidence of it. I'm reasonably certain that Anna was the daughter of Thomas Elliot. I never did any serious research of the Elliots.

Thanks for your information and good luck with your hunt.

Greg

Well, I went back to the cemetery and William Arthur gravestone say Mar 28 1871 died age 66y 11m 24d

However, I am not sure that William's middle name is Riley. In Rachel's obit it said her husband was W. P. Arthur and it also say it on her tombstone. It is hard to decide William's stone say P or R.

My sister doesn't know where she got Riley.

So I still need to do more research.

Sharon
Thanks anyway for the Elliott info. My sister has researched the Arthur tree but didn't write down where she got the info from. A lot of it came from a Christou who had done a lot of research on the Arthur. My sister also bought multiple Auglaize County Genealogy Books. I am looking through them right now and found a big discripiously in the info that I have on Amos Arthur and Anna Elliot. I think there is more than one Amos in the family. Do you have two Amos? The reason I said this is because my sister had that Amos died Oct. 20 1874. She got this from the Aug. Gen. Books. The book had Amos's obit from The Auglaize County Democrat which said Amos Arthur died Oct. 20, 1874 at residence of his father in Clay twp. Buried St. John's cemetery. That was all that was written. This can't be Joel Arthur son Amos because Joel died before Amos in Jackson County.

Also when I was at the cemetery I found his gravestone which had his death June 1 1878.

So you see I am totally confused. Do you have any information that can clear this up?

Also talking about two Amos do you know any thing about the two Silas Arthur. I know Silas McKenzie Arthur was Benjamin Arthur and Radabaugh's son. But who are the parents of Silas Arthur that married Louisa Masters. I have their marriage license and found the birth records for their children but I don't where Silas and Louisa fits into the tree. The courthouse has one of his children listed and the parents said Silas J. Arthur and Louisa Masters.

Thanks in advance.
Sharon

I went to Auglaize county today to see my Dad and also where I grew up at. I went to St. John's Cemetery now called Chief Blackhool Memorial Park with my trusty chalk and chalked the tombstone.

Here is the official death date on Amos Arthur from Jackson county who died in Auglaize County. This Joel Arthur's (Rev. War veteran) son. It is June 1, 1873. He was 81y 11m

Anna wife of Amos Arthur died April 18, 1883 Aged 88y.

The Amos M. Arthur who died Oct. 20 1974 was Joel Jackson and Nancy Copeland's son. Age 20y 8m 2d. This is who died at his father's resident in Clay twp.

Joel and Nancy had a daughter Phidella died Aug. 17 1870 age 3y 3m 6d

Rachel Arthur who maiden name was Elliott wife of William Riley Arthur died Feb. 19 1880 aged 70y 11m 9d. Her obit said she was born March 10 1809 in Jackson county. She had 7 children only three of them survives, Anderson, John and Mrs. Cynthia Shoup wife of Martin Shoup. One died in childhood, another Mr. George Taylor's wife some fourteen years ago, James M. was killed during the last war in the battle of Rebecca, Georgia, in his 22nd year and the fourth , the wife or Wilson Bailey, Esq., four years ago. She had 10 sisters one of whom Mrs. Annie Arthur, Mr. Joel Arthur's mother and the mother-in-law of Adam Emerson,Esq., survives her.

W R Arthur (William Riley) was 66y 11m 24d His death date was hard to read and what I made out and the genealogy books said were totally different so I don't want to put this date out until I can confirm it.

Hope this helps.

Sharon

Thank you so much for the information. It has help greatly. I do have John Morris Arthur and Mary Martha Radabaugh in my tree but I have her death as Dec. 21, 1852. My sister got that info from Christou. Silas BD was 1857. Christou had John married to a Nancy Kelly after Mary died.

I was just down to Jackson County and got a lot of marriage licenses. I am still filtering through them. I don't know where a lot of the come into play.

My personal email is surber01@yahoo.com if you want to email off the message board. I am lucky I live in central Ohio so I put much can travel to the counties in OH.

Please let me know if I have can help you in anyway.
