Linda, Thanks for your response. The information I have comes from research done by another family member now deceased. In her book she says Jacob Artis was born in PA and was a blacksmith. His wife Celia Ann Powell was born in OH. They met and got married in Iowa. They lived in Iowa from at least 1858 until she died circa 1875. I haven't done much research on the Artis family line but thought I might find someone from this family who could fill in the blanks on my Powell line. Again thanks for responding.
