Actually, Ted, I gave you all the direct info I had on John. He is a descendant of my earliest ancestor from 1675, but he is not in my direct line. He was son of Henry Artley and Margaret Loreman. He is descended from a brother of my great, great, grandfather, so he would be my second cousin, twice removed, my genealogy program computes the relationship. I do not understand how it is done.
I have no photos of him or any other info on his wife or wives.
I went on-line to Civil War info and downloaded the facts about my grandfather's regiment. Have you researched the 81st?
