I remember when I was young my grandfather telling me he did a search on Artley's and he said their was less than six hundred Artley's in the US. Their is a lady who ives about thirty min.from me and she has a histor chart of Artley's. I will be picking it up some time soon and will share it with all. My father is from Muncy PA. His father was George Ambrose Artley and his uncle Lee Artley are the only ones I knew. I have a copy of our family crest wich is real nice.
I wish I had the copy of the search my grandfather did but he took the location of it with him to the grave.He liked to hide things. All I hae left from him is his writings of his time with Gen.MacAuthor.

OBITUARY: The Morning Press, Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Monday, April 21, 1980
James E. Artley, 79, Rear 35 W. Fifth St., Bloomsburg, died Saturday evening at Bloomsburg Hospital of complications. He had been a patient for the past 30 days.
He was the son of the late Elmer and Carrie M. Roberts Artley, Berwick area. Employed at Magee Carpet Co., for 41 years, he had retired in 1965.
He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg; Bloomsburg Moose; AARP and the Golden Age Club.
His first wife, the former Eva Clarke, died in 1957.
Surviving are his wife, Hazel L.; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Katheleen) Green, Bloomsburg; two step-daughters: Mrs. Amos (Alberta) Oman, Bloomsburg; Mrs. Bruce (Dorothy) Reigel, Bloomsburg; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three sisters: Carrie Anderson, Woodbury, N.J.; Arlene Eckroth, Quartsite, Ariz.; Evelyn Ritter, Sunbury; two brothers: Ray and Donald, both of Bloomsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Harry W. Rishel Funeral Home, Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Ralph M. Hibbs officiating. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.

We have information that this line goes back to Henry, born 1759; however there are some blank spots that need to be filled in for it to be correct. And his dad's name is Cletus Artley, he was born on April 13,1896 and died in March of 1963. He was married to Alice Colo Artley she died on June 16, 1969. I am seeking information about family of W H Artley and his wive Eva (nee Nelson) living in Savannah, Georgia in 1919. They had at least two children - Laura and son (name unknown).

Eva Nelson ( born 16 July 1887) was the daughter of James Monroe Nelson (an architect of Sherman, Texas and Roswell, New Mexico) and Laura (nee Trowbridge). Eva's siblings were Angeline (later Mrs J D Hudgins), Oliver and Benjamin Harrison Nelson.

Looking for information on John Artley, who served in Co. E, 81st Pa. during the Civil War. He is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hughsville, Lycoming Co. Wondering if he was ever married. Researching the men of the 81st Pa. Any help would be much appreciated.

Jacob Artley 1819-1889

Jacob was born and buried in Hughesville, Lycoming Co. PA. I have tried finding his parents and siblings without success. I am sure he is part of our family but have no proof. I have his complete lineage to date. He married Suzzana Hall Jan 9, 1840 in Lycoming Co, PA. They had 16 children all born in Hughesville. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you. Warren Artley
