My late grandfather was William Artrip (Princeton, WVA). He always said he was from Indian descent. I do remember him talking about "Great Chief White Owl" and saying that was his grandfather (Cherokee, Choctaw or something similar). One time he showed me a picture of his family, and pointed out (it was either his mother or grandmother). She must have had such severe arthritis because I remember how her hands were all crippled up. I was just a young girl when he showed me the picture, probably around 10 yrs old. The picture was done on like an old tin card (like a 4x6 size). All the people in the picture looked like one big Indian tribe to me.
