Four Arto Brothers from Austria abt 1840

Charles or Carlo, John, Bernard, and Jacob were the four brothers. They came from Austria in about 1840. Bernard and Jacob went to the Houston, Galveston area after coming in to the port of New Orleans. The names were spelled several different ways. Would like any information available on any of the four brothers, especially Bernard or "Barnard". Any information would be most helpful and I would greatly appreciate any help. Please Email me at the above address.

Artusa (Artuso?) from Calabria, Italy

I'm trying to research a branch of my family with the surname ARTUSA (note the A at the end). However, I believe that the real spelling may be ARTUSO.

My g-grandmother was Teresa Artusa. According to her social security registration, she was born 16 Nov 1887 in Italy. She married Michael Tassone (b. 1886 Calabria, d. 5 Nov 1942 Chicago) in Calabria. They immigrated to northern Michigan and most of her family worked in the mines in Ishpeming. They later moved to Chicago. Other information listed on her social security card:
father: John (Giovanni?) Artusa
mother: Rose M.

Do you have any Artuso ancestors that may siblings / cousins of my Artusa's?
My father Francesco (Frank) Grillo, was born in Filandari, Italy, November 28, 1903. He came to the US on March 5, 1921. His sponsor, according to the ships manifest, was his brother, Antonino Grillo, who lived in Inwood, Long Island. My father's mother was Frances Artusa. On the ships manifest, was another male from Filandari who was being sponsored by a brother named Dominoco Artusa. Dominoco Artusa's address was in Port Richmond, Long Island. My father died on June 15, 1973 in Miami, Florida. I am trying to locate relatives.

Artuso in Croatia

I do not believe Artuso is a relative of Artusi from Rovigno. However I did contact Adam Eterovich who gave me the following lead I hunted, some time ago.
---------------
I am looking for Frank Artuzo, or Artuso, who came from the Island of Krk, in now Croatia. My records indicate he immigrated to New York somewhere.
---------------
You can find quite a lot of Genealogy on the Istria Talks web page. However the name found there is Artusi in Rovigno. It is possible your Artuso is a variant.

Regards,

Max Artusy
