Our Artz family was in Heddisheim when they were married. Mrs Artz was a Bausewein before marriage. Mr and Mrs Artz had a daughter together before he died. We do not know what happened to her. She had 2 immaculate conceptions a number of years after mr. Artz died. Our Conrad should have been a Bauseweinn; his older brother died as a baby. We still have Bausewein relos in Heddisheim, the exact connection is yet to be established.

Does this sound like we could help eachother?
Hi I have the Artz family pretty much done and have found Bausewein relos still living in Heddisheim. They are relatively young and we correspond from time to time.

The Thurgars are in great shape. I went to Nz, searched there and found treasures. Even visited where Abraham and family lived. Have a pix of the Thurgar kids infront of their stables in Leichhardt from the Griffin family album.

Please give me a ring and we can meet.
I went to Lancestor County PA on Friday and I believe I have your information on Henry Artz. He was born May 30, 1760 to Philipp and Anna "Barbara" Artz. He was bapt. June 24 1760 with Johann Heinrich Behr & wife Barbara as sponsors, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, near Brickerville, Elizabeth Twp, Lancaster County, PA. In the 18th century it was known as the Warwick congregation. You can check my posting today for the information on this father & brothers and sisters.

I made a trip to the Lancaster County Historical Society on Friday, since we knew from Peter S. Artz letters, that his father was born there. Here is what I found.

Will Book F, Page 285
Philipp Artzt, nailsmith, Cocolico Twp. Lancaster County PA
Wife-Anna Barbara
Children-Cornelious, Henry Artzt, Christian Artzt, PETER Artzt, Christina & Sophina
Died - Feb. 23, 1790 Probated May 7 1790

From Rineland Emigrants, edited by Don Yoder, published in 1891, page 43
Emigration from the city of Freudenstadt, Wurttemberg, Germany
Johann Philipp Artzt. aged 29, nailsmith by trade, with wife Maria Barbara, aged 26, and children: Sophia Dorothea and Catharina Christina (4 weeks old)
on page 44
The nailsmith Johann Philipp Artzt gave as his reason that it was impossible to support oneself in Freddenstadt, since iron and coal were getting more expensive every year, and he could not compete with the foreign artisans of his trade, who as a conquence of cheaper raw materials (iron and coal) could produce more cheaply and underbid the native nailsmiths out in the country and in the market towns.

All the sons came to Washington County MD after the death of Philipp & I believe the Henry Artz that died in Washington County, in 1808, who had Christian as the adm. of his estate are sons of this Philipp. Also, My Peter who was married to Anna Maria Schaeffer. There was also a Cornelious in Washington Co. MD.

Hope this will help some of you.

Mark
I have copied some of the papers from my Artz file & plan to get them to the post office this morning.

I have copied some pages from the letters that were written by P.S.Artz to his son, Edwin. In one of those letters he names his mother as, Anna Maria Schaeffer. Others are the description of Peter's illness and death & still others mention Anna.

I would love it if you could fill me in on the family of Anna.

Bonnie Bingaman.

You descend from the daughter Anna who married John Shullenberger? I believe that John was from Newburg & ran a saddlery shop. They lived on Penn Street, Shippensburg, in 1871. They were married in 1870 & had a daughter Helen 14 Jan. 1871. What else can you tell me about the family?

I would be glad to exchange what I have on the family of Theodore. Not a lot! I also have information on the family of Edwin from a descendent in FL.

I have pages copied from the Clippinger Genealogy that pertain to Barbara if you are interested.

Do you know if there was any relationship to Peter, the father, & Peter Schafer Artz's Clippinger wives?

Anna Catharine Wunderlich used the name Catherine.

If you send me your address I will be glad to copy and send you what I have on the Artz/Clippinger lines.

Bonnie Bingaman

Dear Cousin Bonnie,

I, too, am a descendant of Peter Artz and his wife Anna Maria. Was she Schaeffer or Kessinger? Their son Peter Schaeffer Artz was married first to Anna Wunderlich and then to Barbara Clippinger. You are descended from Theodore, son of the first wife, and I am descended from Anna, daugher of the second wife!

In various family trees I have seen our ggg grandmother Anna Maria variously as Schaeffer and as Kissinger.

Peter Schaeffer Artz and his second wife had children: John, David, William, Edwin and Anna.

Thanks for your help.

Cousin Mark

I am looking for the parents of this Jacob, born in Wurttemberg app. 1807, immigrated to Michigan between 1844 and 1846. I found a set of parents who correspond to his info, a Johann Georg Artz born 1769, and Christine Juckler born 1771, both of Wurttemberg, but since I'm not sure how common the name "Jacob Artz" is in Wurttemberg, I was hoping that someone else could verify this information. I would also appreciate any info that anyone has on possible siblings/other relatives of Jacob Artz.

Thank you!
