I hope this message reaches you. I saw your briefing about your grand mother. I just started searching my origins and maybe this can be of help to find a thread about our last name, so I decided to try my luck.
As far as I know Arvai comes from the province of Arva (''i''=from) and Arvay comes not only from Arva, but as a so called ''low nobiliary'' title given probably by grace of the feudal ruler then....
My grand father Janos was born in Selmec-Banya, province of Sümeg on Jan 29 1896, and had a brother Josef 2-3 years older that was killed in WWI. My father Zoltan was born in Budapest on 1-1-32 and has a sister born in 1925, Catalina.
