Greetings,
My name is Maria Arvelo and I am of hispanic descent. My fathers parents migrated from San Tuce, Puerto Rico before it became a commonwealth of the United States to New York. My father grew up in Spanish Harlem and later went into the military and married my mother, who is African-American.
I am also very interested in learning more about who I am. I am currently a Phd candidate at Clark-Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA. I have two siblings Miguel and Colenda. My grandparents are Roberto and Zenia Arvelo. I was named after my great grandmother Maria.
What is in a name is so powerful? Arvelo is such a rare name in the United States. Everywhere I go people ask me about who I am and I have little to share because I don't know who I am.
I wish you the best in your important quest to find out more about who you are. Feel free to look me up if you are ever in the metropolitan Atlanta area.
