I know that my mother talked about that town in PR. I know for a fact that we still have family there. My grandmother's name was Maxinina Arvelo-Natal, my grandfather is Moises Arvelo. my Great Granparents names are, Antonio Arvelo Y Petronila Torres-Torres who are the parents of Moises Arvelo. that is as far as I went. I am currently trying to find out Antonio Arvelo (my great grandfathers) parents name.

My mother maiden name is Arvelo and she lives in Englewood Florida. Both of my parents were born in Puerto Rico. My mother in Utuado, PR and my father in Corozal, PR. Dose that sound familiar to your family? I am currently visiting her in Florida and I was in Tample just this past week.

I am also a Hipanic descent and my mother is the holder of the Arvelo name (one of the few that I know). My mother father lived in Santuce, Puerto Rico as well. La parada 15.I am the fifth child of six girls. My parent moved form Puerto Rico back in the mid 1950's. My mother 's family is mostly from Utuado, Puerto Rico. I have family in Florida, PA, NYC, Italy, Youngstown, Ohio. I have a family tree growing everyday as I learn more about my family. I am a convert to the Mormon faith and we are big in Geneology. My name is Madelyne and I found out just 2 weeks ago that my great great grandfather was a slave in Italy and was shipped out to New York City during the slave time days. When he arrived to NYC the owner of his free him because the law was in effect that no one was to be a slave. My Great Great Grandfather stay in NYC and died there. I found out that the Arvelo name is from the Canary Island which supposely that is where my mother ancestry is from.

Have you checked the 1920, 1920 census? I found Serafin Fuster Arvelo on both of 1920 and 1930 census, as well as, his WWI and WWII draft card, and his SSN information upon his death.

My Full name is Gary Nelson Calheta Arvelo. I'm Portuguese decent. My Father is Jose Alberto Arvelo. He has an older brother Antonio Arvelo. Before my grandfather came to the United States he lived and still lives in Portugal a small tourist trap called Ericeira. I only know that my grandfather was a fisherman. For Calheta thats my mothers maiden name. Her maiden name is Maria Thersa Calheta. She has 2 older sisters and 3 youger brothers. My grandmothers name is Cacilda Calheta and grandfathers name is Manuel Calheta. My grandfather is from St. Miguel in the Azcores. My grandmother is form the Portugal. I only know that my grandmothers family where Ciganos (gypsies). I met some distant relatives when visiting the old country. I just don't know where it may have all started or even just a bit of info would be great.

The Arvelo or Arbelo name originated in Bari, Italy, which is a large, industrial town in the south of Italy.

Our ancestors travelled to the Canary Islands, which are owned by Spain and are located off the coast of Africa. The Canary Islands are called the islands of the Arvelo's (Arbelo's) by Arvelo/Arbelo family members.

Some Arbelo family members settled in Louisiana during the 1770's, some went to Puerto Rico and others travelled to Venezuela.

Our ancestors who were living in the Canary Islands, were politicians, mayors, artists, singers, & musicians.

One famous Arvelo is named Pepito Arvelo. He was a well known classical guitarist from Puerto Rico who travelled throughout Europe and South America in the 1960's.

The Arvelo name came from Arbelo. Arbelo is the original spelling of our last name. I have a copy of the Arbelo family coat of Arms which I received several years ago via the internet from a friend in Tenerife. This proves that the original spelling of our name was Arbelo.

My name is Romina Arvelo, my dad was also from Argentina, his name was Jorge Omar Arvelo - born in 1949 and died in 1989. My grand-father (José Francisco Arvelo) and my grand-grandfather (José Arvelo) were italians but - as I don`t have personal records of them - I don`t know where in Italy they were from.

Candido, bc, 1897; Hipolita,bc. 1898; Victoriano. bc 1898; Miguel. bc 1900; Alejo; bc, 1902; Eugenio; bc 1904; Rosalia, bc 1905; Antonia,bc 1908; Ramon; bc 1910; Maria P., bc 1904; Ana, bc 1901; Paulina, bc 1915 and Toribio Arvelo Martinez, bc. 1917.

The Parents of Lesme were; Hipolito Arvelo Alvarez, bc 1840 and maried to Fermina Rios. So far I have Hipolito married two times with a total of 14 children between the two wives.

The parents of Hipolito were, Juan Francisco Arvelo and Ramona Alvarez Medina.

I just came across a name in the Arvelo family that is of interest to me. You mention a Juan Bautista Arvelo and Maria Antonia Albelo in one of your answears to Isabel (yr 2003). In my research of my family roots I have found similar names. Both of this names are related to other Arvelo's with maternal last names of "Velazquez" ; "Muniz"; Nieves". Are you familiar with the names "Basilio Arvelo" , "Senon Arbelo";
"Anacleto Arvelo" , "Eladio Arvelo" or "Demencio Arvelo". My research indicate that in 1910 Puerto Rico had over 32 Municipios where the Alvelo families lived with a total of over 80 Barrios having Arvelo or a variation of this name, living there. Branches of one family can be found, sometimes, in as many as five diferent towns. Moca, San Sebastian, Utuado, Ciales and Lares were towns that could be considered as "La Cuna de los Arvelo" in 1910. I thank you for any infomation you are willing to share with me.

My father was Marino Arvelo, and my grand father was Wenceslao Arvelo, I beleive the grandgrandfather was Franco Arvelo but not sure. I am a descendant of the arvelo's from san sebastian. My father is Manuel Arvelo (1944) who is the son of Toribio "Tito" Arvelo (DOB ?) who is the son of Lesme Arvelo and Juana Martinez Perez. A name of another daughter which should be under Lesme Arvelo is Paulina (DOB?) any help in tracing this geneology further back would be appreciated.

My great grandfather was Serafin Fuster Arvelo, his DOB was 12 Jun 1884, he lived in Lares, Puerto Rico. I wish I knew more about him.
