William Arvin in Civil War

I am looking for Civil War records for William Arvin b. 1815 Madison Co. KY, d. 1868 Estill Co. KY. Was in Estill Co. during the war. Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System shows 3 William Arvins in KY units...one confederate...two union. Can't find a list for the 7th Regiment, Kentucky Cavalry, Co. B CSA. Does anyone know if this William Arvin was in the 7th Regiment?

which chain of Arvins are you looking for?some of the same family came from Va.to Ky.and Maryland,New Hampshire ,Indiana in my researching i've found they are widely scattered but all or most go back to John Army Arvin {Arvine}1600's.my name is Nivra Ann Smith my mother was Gladys Arvin a gr.grandaughter of Jameson Arvin ,but not this one.

I have an old Ypsilanti Press newspaper from Oct. 14, 1967. In it is an obituary for Carl Robert Arvin age 24. It appears he was killed in battle on October 8, 1967 in Viet Nam. Anyone interested in a copy of this, let me know.

of Lunenburg Co,Va.Both Sarah and William belonged to this church.The book of the Meherrin Baptist Church minutes is preseved in a copy in the State Archives in Richmond,VA.It is titled,"The Meherrin Baptist Church of Lunenburg Co. Minute Book"Account #24896 go to page 14.This may give you the info that you seek.Jameson Arvin and Nancy Thornton were my gr.gr.gr.grandparents,my grandfather was Merrill Benton Arvin the son of Christopher Newton Arvin and Martha Ann Robertson.

Nancy THORNTON of Surry Co.,NC who was married to Jamison Wade ARVIN, her first cousin. Nancy was the sister to my 3rd great grand mother, Sarah THORNTON who married Joseph MORELAND of Surry Co.,NC.

I find your information you posted new to me and am glad to see some new info.

I have family info and have been trying to find the parents of Nancy's Father, William THORNTON who married Sarah ARVIN/ARVINE of Lunenburg Co.,VA to Surry Co.,NC. There are several families seen mentioned dealing with my ARVINE/ARVIN family living in Lunenburg Co.,VA, have you come across any information as to what THORNTON family living there is his family?

The Rev Paul Arvin that I'm related to is my second cousin. He should be well up in years by now. I haven't seen him since I was a child. He is much older than me. He was closer to my dad's age, maybe even older than him. My dad was 67 when he passed. Years ago, he had a cousin who was murdered and the funeral was in either Ravenna or Irvine. She was quite young, maybe in her twenties. I'm sorry, but that is all I know.

This posting peaked my attention. I'm a Rev. and my dad's name is Paul. And my Arvin roots are lost in KY with the birth of James Arvin who moved on to IL and IA. I assume I'm related to your Arvin's but the missing link is still to be uncovered.

The only Arvin's that I know that I am related to are Rev Paul Arvin from Estill County. William Wayne Arvin (my uncle) and his family who live in Ford, KY. My grandfather's name was Robert Franklin Arvin who was married to Lillie Mae Sparks. Lillie passed away before I was born and he married Mary, but I don't know her maiden name. She too has passed. My dad, grandfather, and uncle have all since passed. Which ends the Arvin name on this side of the family except for my brother who is the only Arvin left. He now resides in Hawaii.

Thanks you have been a big help anything you have would be great I do have a picture of Jonah Jesse Hester John Shelton and I think a couple of others. I was thinking that maybe Susan died in childbirth with Hester maybe that is why she changed her birth year.I thought maybe writing to the state I can get a copy of it I did find Jonah's death certificate though on ancestry.com I know that its confusing on the crow side too there were many inter-marriages between cousins

Anything on Jamison Davis or David Arvin Brandenburg marriages births and deaths I know David Arvin married Hester Brandenburg that is how Hester Ann got her name she had also recieved either a tea set or platter from Hester Brandenburg that was suppose to be from Germany also all the girls that were named Hester recieved this set. my great great grandmother Hester Ann had it last supposably it got either lost in the 1939 flood in Louisville or Hester's husband not knowing the value of it sold it in a yardsale or something.Anything you have on the Arvins and Crow's would be great thank you for the informnation if Susan died in 1876 then it is possible that she died in childbirth maybe since Hester was born in 1876.I know that Hester changed her birth year a few times I found her on censuses with William Blevins and one where he wasnt but, the next one he was its confusing sometimes.

I have tried to find out the death date on John Shelton Shelton Crow's father. Please write to me as I have lots of family information on the William THORNTON-Sarah ARVIN/ARVINE family line. I have worked on this family for over 30+ years and as of yet cannot connect William to the THORNTON Families that lived in Lunenburg Co.,VA and had businnes with Sarah's Father's family of Arvines.
William and Sarah two daughters, Nancy who married Jamison Wade ARVINE/ARVIN was the sister to my 3rd great grand mother, Sarah THORNTON who married Joseph MORELAND of Surry Co.,NC.

Tell me more about your ARVIN lines. Mine originally from Lunenburg Co.,VA in 1700's to Surry Co.,NC then to Estill Co.KY in early 1820's.

I have a disk of my KY ARVIN's that I will get to later today to see if any HINTON's on list.

What does the "M" stand for in James M. ARVIN stand for?

My mother was an Arvin her father was Merrill Benton Arvin
from Estill Co.He is related too all of these Arvins I have seen on your postings.I have a book about the Arvins and Robertsons of Estill Co.This book was written by Opal Dean Arvin it's pretty acurate.My Uncle George Arvin use to stay with Shelton Crowe and his family .I will post more later . {Nivra} Ann Senters

Wanda,Nathaniel Dacus Arvin was Mary Fulliloves' grandson the son of Jameson Arvin born 1807 in Madison Co.Ky.he was married [2]times,1st.was Lucinda Barker 2nd.Nancy Reed he died in Estill Co.in 1890.Jameson Arvin married Nancy Thornton.

Wanda, I am a desendent of the Estill Co. Ky. Arvins.Mary Fullilove was only married once.She was 2nd.born child of Anthony Fullilove she died 1790/1794.she never came to ky.but 2 of her sons did {Jameson and John}between 1795/1800.Jameson Arvin was one of the first twelve men to
settle in the Estill Co. area.Jameson Arvin was my gr.gr.gr. grandfather.I have a lot of the info.on the Arvins

I don't know if there are any of these books still available.they were published by Tennessee Valley publishing p.o.box52527 Knoxville ,Tenn.37950
1999 by Opal Dean Arvin at that time she lived in Illinois.
She and my mother discovered each through this book and stayed
in contact until Mom passed in 2002.It has alot of family in depth.

she was born 1843 died 1876.hester's birthdate is given as
1876.there is a lot to this book it gets kind of confusing.
there was alady in lex.ky.that wrote to me a few years ago
by the name of Haynes Stamper a distant relative she new quite a bit of the history if still living she is near 90
years old.i lost her address .she gave opal dean arvin a lot of info. for this book.i'm looking on the internet for

I have found Roger Arvin b.1881 and died 1971 in Keysville VA. His wife was named Nellie Pearl Barnes. She was b. 1895 in Lunenburg Co. Va, and her parents were Addie Barnes and Ella Grey Smithson. I can find no record of Pearl and Roger's marriage, or of her death. I only find record of his death. I know that they were married and lived near Keysville VA on a tobacco farm. They had 2 boys, Garland and Homer. And they had 4 girls, Blanche Janie Julia and Lilly.If anyone can find a marriage record for them, and a death date for Pearl, I would really be appreciative. I know she died prior to 1973, as her grandaughter Diane Berkley has said that Roger sold the farm and moved to town when she passed away.
