I want to find distant relatives. Grandparents where Sebastian Arvizu and Maria Isabel Sanchez (maiden name) from Rio Pinihuan, SLP, Mexico. I know that there are some in Mexico City and that Jorge "El Tata" Arvizu is a great uncle of mine.

Searching for my family on my husband's side. His father was Octavio Arvizu born in Sonora, Mexico.He died in 1992. His parents name's were Encarnacio Arvizu and Ramona Quiroz. I know that Octavio Arvizu had two younger son's from different marriages.My husband is David Arvizu age 42. I hope to find family members.

I have looked at this record before and as interesting as it looks I cannot say that this is the person I am looking for. I have seen the Baptism for this individual and the family but I can not in good faith connect the record to the person with no other evidence of connecting the family to my Ramon.

I was speaking of the Manuel Ignacio Arvizu born in 1762.
My family includes many generations of Manuel "Alviso" (or alvizu) My great grandfather Manuel was born in 1843.
there is a dead end regarding his siblings and parents.

Sonora Mexico, never met him, he died very young in his
30's I heard, Grandmother is Ana Arvizu few years decease.

Anita was married to a Dolores Moreno on 12-30-1899
in Nogales Az, Santa Cruz county
Moreno's were from Caborca Sonora Mexico.

as I am ck'g the Cuen Line......found them in Arizona, but have no idea if they died in Az.......I also have info on a David Encinas-Carmen Borquez....the family down the line is related to the Celaya surname.........Cora.

Can you give me more information such as place of birth or the names of any brothers or sisters. Is there a Domingo who is a relation to any of the people you mention? Domingo was born in 1834 in Sonora, Mexico. He came to California at a young age and had 14 children and over 30 grandchildren born in Azusa, California. I would like to learn the names of any of his family members.

Here is what I know. Manuel and Susana Murrieta were Domingo's parents. He was born circa 1834 in Sonora, Mexico. He had some 12 children, one of those was Domingo Jr. It is possible that this is the Domingo that you are looking for. I will have to check on Domingo, Jr's birthdate. You can look up Domingo Arvizu in the 1880 census under the misspelled name of Alvizo. Some of his children are listed. Also, my grandfather, Abraham Arvizu had a son named Domingo but I believe he died early in life.

I am researching........Ramon Figueroa-Mariana Trujillo line, there daughter Amparo Figueroa married Santos Cuen.
I know they were from the San Marcial,Magadalena area in Sonora Mexico.....I've made contact with Arenas,Cuen's in Calexico,Ca area......looks like I need info in Calexico,Mexico area......would any of your Figueroa's be related to any of these surnames?.........Thank You........Cora

I wish I had more information, I'm ashamed I don't, but my grandfather was Doming Frank Arvizu, he must have been born in the early 1900's, I believe in California, but will have to check.

Looking for information on Manuel Arvizu and his wife, Josepha Arballo who were the parents of my great grandfather, Domingo Arvizu who was born around 1835 in Sonora, Mexico. Domingo Arvizu married Francisca Lopez, who was from Oposura, Sonora in 1861. Francisca's parents were Filomeno Lopez and Susana Murrieta. Any information would be helpful.

I wish that Domingo had recorded his parents because it would have made my research much easier! His log book only lists his children. They are:

For sure about being here before there was a USA. My hunch is your (our?) family came from Spain (the Basque country of northeast Spain in which there is supposedly a town or village called Arvizu) to Mexico, then either New Mexico or Sonora, then Arizona, then, in your case, California. De Anza (and there were two of the same name) and Arvizu are both Basque names. Have you ever heard of the Pueblo Revolt in New Mexico. A great many Spaniards were chased out of New Mexico in the late 1600s by the Indians, who revolted. Many of the refugees settled in Sonora and then either returned 10 years later in the reconquist or went to Arizona or California. Does Domingo record his parents. Would you please send me the list of names, birthdates, birth locations, whatever. I would appreciate it. My great grand mother Librada Arizu was born in 1857 in, I think Ures, Sonora.

Earl and I both share Domingo Arvizu as a great grandfather, as Domingo had listed 12 children in his log book. I have a log book written in Domingo's own hand in old Spanish where he logs the birth of his children.

Yes, Corporal Arvizu ( Alviso) stayed in the San Jose area and has descendants living close by. There is a small town of Alviso, California.

I find it interesting that the genealogical trail of my branch of the Arvizu clan may go from Spain to Arizona to Sonora, Mexico and then to California. This puts the Arvizus in the USA long before there was a USA as we know it today.

You're welcome. Did Corporal Arvizu stay in the San Jose area. The two colornels Arvizu all started their careers as ordinary elisted men. I'll be getting the church records (via Mormon Church) from Ures, Sonora, in a couple of weeks and will let you know if I find out anything about a Domingo Arvizu or Francisca Lopez. Is Earl Arvizu related to you? He lists exactly the same ancestors, including an exact birthdate for Domingo. My brother, Steve, and I are both doing research, but he's taking my dad's side and I'm taking my mom's side. I haven't found any record of either Manuel Antonio and Manuel Ignancio having any children.

David Arvizu, 67, of Chula Vista died April 17. He was born in Los Angeles and was a welder for Pathway Bellows.

Survivors include his companion, Maria Patron; daughters, Roxann Mancillia of National City, Cindy Hernandez and Elizabeth Garcia of Chula Vista, Rocio Franklin of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Sonia Cuevas of Chula Vista; sons, David and Robert of Chula Vista; brother, Lonnie Montemayor; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Private services were planned.

Arrangements: Bayview Cremation & Burial Services.
Published in the San Diego Union-Tribune on 4/26/2003.

hey john, i don't have any info on Manuel but I am looking for info on Domingo Arvizu. Here is the short of it - my wife's grandfather was Francisco Domingo Arvizu, born sep 1916. His parents were Domingo Arvizu and Angelita Altamirano. They came from Sonora. Thank you, I understand that about the log book. I have a old bible & note book from my gggrandfather they are getting close to 100 years. My wife Lana Adella Marmolejo is the gggranddaughter of Domingo, through Phil Arvizu, then Della Arvizu, then Vicky Segobia(Lana's Mother). His great, great grandmother was LEONARDA SOSA ARVIZU, born approx 1856, great great grandfather, Fulgencio Arvizu, born approx 1856. They had several children born in both AZ and CA: Arthur,Frances,Eliza, Fulgincia,Manuela,Artimisa, Henry, and John Sosa. His grandmother was Jaunita (Arvizu) Rocha, born 1918. does anyone have any information on this name he was born in january 1955 somewhere in mexico according to the 1910 census. This is my GG Grandfather on my mothers side. He married a Carmen Romero and had at least 5 children by 1920. But then I lose him and his whole family until who knows I know my grandmother was alive. his son my Grandfather was Jose Jesus Arvizu a ballplayer in Mexico my late Uncle Johnny sail they called him "El Yaqui" or something I wrote it down but that was a few years ago and it's late tonight. The names of Domingo's parents are listed in the marriage document when he was married to Francisca Lopez in 1860 at the San Gabriel Mission. The old Arvizu log I have in a vault as it is already close to 150 years old and very fragile. I don't take it out very often as I don't want to ruin it. What is your relationship to Domingo?

Aurora, my great-grandfather's oldest brother was Jose Trinidad Arbizu, born 31 May 1863 in Altar, Sonora. He was one of four brothers. My great-grandfather, Jose Luis Pascacio, born 28 Feb 1868, travelled up to Tempe from Altar, married there in 1891, then returned to Altar to raise a family. We believe one of his brother's may have settled in the Mammoth area. Could it be the same "Trinidad?" Paul Rivera
