I have seen Conductor Arwood's name spelled a couple of different ways, and I am not sure which one is correct, so it's possible. Did he work on Southern Railway between Atlanta-Chattanooga? Where did he live? Do you know his birth/death dates? I don't know how old Conductor Arwood was at the time of the wreck in 1926, but I assume he was an older man, as a conductor had to be pretty near the top of the seniority list to be on one of the named passenger trains like the Ponce de Leon. Tom Randall, who was the conductor on the Royal Palm, was 59 years old with 40+ years service at the time of the wreck. Somebody just about had to die or retire before anybody below them on the seniority list could move up to one of those runs.
