Just found this message board. It has potential. I've been searching for a few years and have come across many Arys scattered across the country. I have names and addresses of relatives who have done some serious research. At this time I'm pretty much tied up with other matters not to mention disorganized so I can't give too much info at this time but I will try to put together some things that might be helpful to someone. For now however, off the top of my head, I go back as far as mid 1667 Germany with Johann Hans Ihrig. His grandsons, Petter and Gothlib, I believe, left Germany in 1740s to come to America. Petter reached Philadelphia in 1749. Gothlib had been delayed (sickness perhaps)and arrived sometime later. Petter settled in Rowan County, NC with a part of his family settling in Perry County, TN and spreading from there to the 4 winds. Some went to Alabama, some to Missouri, and I'm sure many other places. A wonderful lady named Harriet Davidson from Webster Groves, MO wrote a great book PALATINE PROGENY which covers many of the Arys and the many variations from 1749 to about 1983. Gothlib was granted land in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and his family moved to Illinois and later to Kansas. I don't have much more on him.
