Looking for family

Just found this message board. It has potential. I've been searching for a few years and have come across many Arys scattered across the country. I have names and addresses of relatives who have done some serious research. At this time I'm pretty much tied up with other matters not to mention disorganized so I can't give too much info at this time but I will try to put together some things that might be helpful to someone. For now however, off the top of my head, I go back as far as mid 1667 Germany with Johann Hans Ihrig. His grandsons, Petter and Gothlib, I believe, left Germany in 1740s to come to America. Petter reached Philadelphia in 1749. Gothlib had been delayed (sickness perhaps)and arrived sometime later. Petter settled in Rowan County, NC with a part of his family settling in Perry County, TN and spreading from there to the 4 winds. Some went to Alabama, some to Missouri, and I'm sure many other places. A wonderful lady named Harriet Davidson from Webster Groves, MO wrote a great book PALATINE PROGENY which covers many of the Arys and the many variations from 1749 to about 1983. Gothlib was granted land in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and his family moved to Illinois and later to Kansas. I don't have much more on him. This is starting to get long and I'm running out of time but I have a few names and addresses that might give someone a lead. Send me an e-mail and I'll give them to you if you're interested

I'm 27 and have always wondered where all my relatives are, since I've never met anybody with my last name. Are there any out there related to Charles D. Ary? He ran a newspaper in Linden, TN during the depression and his son (my grandfather) was a Pharmacist in Fayetteville, TN where I grew up. Just wanted to see if any of my relatives may be around.

I just discovered she passed 9 months ago. That has put me in a very sad state of mind. If your mother's name is Kathleen Louise Piersant, then we are related. I am your aunt. I'm wondering about the family name ARY and from where it originated. I know so little about it. Since using the Internet, I've discovered many ARY's in the records, which came as quite a surprise to me. I only know that my family came from the SE Missouri area, particuarly the Thayer/Poplar Bluff area. Also, I hear that there is a town in Kentucky named Ary and that the cemetary there has many Ary's. Can someone verify this?

Dan Ary.....Thanks for you reply to my inquiry. Gottleib, who is an ancestor of mine, immigrated from Baden, Germany in 175l. He had a brother, Peter, who immigrated in 1749, but do not know if this was the same Peter as your ancestor.

While trying to piece all my Tennessee Arys together I came across the L.E. ARY family in the 1930 Henderson Co., TN census, District 2, ED 18, sheet 1B. All show born in Tennessee as well as all parents but I can't connect them to any of the known lines. I can't find where they came from, where they were at any other time, or where anyof them went. With a family this size at least one member is usually traceable. Any help on this one would be appreciated.

Ihrich can also be Arey, Ary, Early. On the 14 September, 1751 Gottlib Ihrig (Cutlip Eariss name recorded as upon arrival)Came on St Andrew under Capt. James Abercrombie. He was granted land in Vvirginia in 1770.He was dead by 24 Sept. 1781.Gottlib Ihrig was most likely, until proven otherwise, the progenitor of the Are family in Augusta and Rockingham counties in Virginia. My husband was born Dalen Gene Ary on January 10, 1948 in either McAlester, Pittsburgh County, OK or Wilburton, Latimer County, OK to Iva Mae Ary, who was born in 1931. He was adopted in 1950. Through non-identifying information from the adoption he has discovered that he has at least one half-brother on each the maternal and paternal side. He would like to have genealogical information if anyone knows anything about his family line. He would also like to make contact if they wish to do so but would not intrude if not welcome. Father, Raymand b. 1885 OH; Mother, Nora M. Lawrence b.1887, OH
OH 1910 Census also lists brothers Eldo S. age 4 and Lloyd (or Floyd) K. as age 2.
Violet later had a sister Gladys b. abt 1915 in ND.
On the 1920 OH (Drake Co.) Census Gladys and Kenneth (Lloyd K.) are living with Mary Lawrence a widow, her sons Elmer and Charles.
Violet Married abt 1930, Charles James Allen b. abt 1906 in IA
Sometime around 1935 Violet and Charles Allen end up in San Bernardino, CA and then disappeared by 1942.
Can anyone shed some light on these families?
