I am researching the Arzuaga family from Maunabo. According to my grandfather Evaristo Luciano-Arzuaga, his grandmother's family was of Basque origin. Her name was Cristina Arzuaga and her son Federico Arzuaga is my great grandfather (he used his mother's surname which was very common in PR countryside mainly due to common-law marriage). According to my grandfather the Arzuagas had a "funny accent" which I would believe is due to Basque being their main language. The Basque Country of course, is a region of northeastern Spain right on the border with France, they have a different culture from the Spaniards and their language is not related to any modern European language. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
