My grandfather Antonio Asaro was born in Manhattan in 1911. He had two younger sisters (Angelina, Anna) who were also born in Manhattan, and also four older siblings (Maria, Andrew, Francesca, Josephine) that were born in Castellammare del Golfo. The family emigrated in 1910 and moved to Brooklyn in the 1920s.

Their parents were named Michele Asaro and Pasqua Camarda.
