Dear Mari: Thank you for your response. I am not an Asaro descendent, but my family grew up with them here and my later father was in partnership with Pete Asaro in a Pizza business in the 1960s. The Asaro family here in Albion was descended from Pietro, and Anthony Asaro of Mazzara de Vallo, Sicily. The sons who came here were cousins, and there are descendants of both branches still in the area. There were alot of Italians here in Albion in the early 20th century and so it is no surprise that your relatives came here to visit. You ARE related to the Asaro's here! I would suggest contacting Annette frosch, who is ghe great-grandaughter of Antonio Asaro and Michelene (Messena) Asaro. In Anthony's obituary, it says that he had five brothers: Frank, Sam and Peter Asaro of DETROIT, Vito and James Asaro of San Diego, California, and a sister in Italy. Anthony was born in Mazzara, SicilyJanuary 13, 1878. In 1907 he married Magdelene Missina at Mazzara. He came to Albio in 1911 He died May 18. 1953. He had three sons: James, Mario, and Joseph. Joseph is Annette's father.
Here its Annette's address: Annette Frosch, 29 Westwood St., Hillsdale, MI 49242. E-mail:
