They were both born in Naples. I wish I could give dates but this is all the family bible has on them. I do know that they immigrated (don't know the year) and at some point were living in Birmingham Alabama. That is where my great grandfather Dominick was born. I know that I have relatives in Charleston SC, Greenville, and in Birmingham Alabama, and have been told of relatives in NY and California. One of those in NY, though he was a very distant relative, was the late Carl Asaro who was a firefighter and died when the towers fell. And I know I'm getting off the subject a bit, but I just want to say, that even though we didn't share much of a blood relation per say, it's cool to know that we shared a family history, and I think it would have been cool to have met him. If anyone is reading who might know something about what I have posted, or if I am related to someone reading, it would be cool to hear from you :) Thankyou for your time. April Asaro - Darlington SC.

Asaros in San Francisco, California

I see some mention in a few messages that are posted about Asaros in California. Does anyone know of relatives of a Joseph Asaro who came from Sicily around 1918 or thereabouts. I do not know the name of the city in Sicily. There seems to be alot of Asaros from Sicily. He came directly to San Francisco to send his father back home to Sicily. The father had kinda' abandoned the family. Joseph stayed in S.F. and was a fisherman there. Married Annie Laurie Marino. They had 6 children. Joseph died in late 1975 or early 1976. If there are any connections please let me know. Joseph had brothers and sisters in Sicliy, but I don't know if they came to America or not. Thanks!

Vitina Asaro

I have been searching for information regarding my grandmother Vitina Asaro. She was born in Pennsylvania (abt. 1901), had two younger brothers, Jack (Pennsylvania, abt. 1904) and Lewis (Michigan, about 1909). Her parents immigrated to the United States in 1905. Her father was John (Giovanni) born in Italy (abt. 1874). Her mother was Verona born in Austria (abt. 1881).
Vitina was briefly married to Damiano Franklin Buffa in the mid - late 1920's. Damiano and Vitina had a son, John Richard Buffa (1925) and twin daughters Helen Ilona and Mary Louise (1927).
Is there anyone one who could help my sister Carol and I find her or surviving family members? Carol and I are the daughters of John Richard Buffa. Her last known residence we are aware of was in Detroit, Michigan. We suspect she remarried, yet we aren't sure of when, nor where she moved to. Thank you, in advance for helping us find her.
~ Joanne Mary ~

Looking for any family of descendents of Antonino and Vita Marie Asaro. We do not know much about any siblings, but know everything about their children, all nine of them, most of which stayed in Mazara del Vallo. They in turn have tons of family. Asaro is like the name Smith here in the United States. Other family names include Giacolone, Villafranca, Mirabile, Manzo. Ingargiola and of course, other Asaros.
My husband's grandfather, Francesco, was born in 1843 and married Antonina Zinna in 1875 (his second marriage). Any one with any information that they have, or may want from our records (we are very lucky and went to Mazara del Vallo and found hundreds of relatives, all of which we have a record! thanks to my husband's cousin Francesco), please let me know. I am intrigued with this family connection. They must have been started by someone in Mazara del Vallo!
