How is Asay pronounced?

Classification: Query
Surnames: Asay, Asy, Asey, Acey, Ase, Ace
Based on the various spellings I've seen, I always pronounce it long-A, soft-S, long-E, with the emphasis on the first syllable because that's what it looks like they're trying to spell (Asy, Asey, Acey, Ase, Ace...)
No matter how many times I say it to people, when they see it written (like on a cemetery record) they pronounce it long-A, soft-S, long-A with the emphasis on the second syllable.
So, which way is it?
Thanks for any input.
Jo
