I'm looking for the parents of Isabella Ashabranner who was bn abt 1855 somewhere in MO. On every CA census from 1880 through 1930 it was stated that her Mother was born in IL and her Father in MO.

There is a family story that says that when Isabella was a child soldiers came and forced the family off their land. The Mother asked is she could have time to bury her husband. Before Isabella and her Mother left , the Mother covered the bottom of the wagon with salt. She told the child not to tell anyone, that the salt was their money. Does anyone have any idea where this could have been?

Later Isabella and her Mother came to CA in a covered wagon
